Saline sonogram?
Has anyone ever had a saline sonogram? My lining is a little thicker than they want for my FET cycle (it's a 9 and they like to see it below a 6), so they said they want to do a saline sono next week. What's the difference (besides the saline, obviously )?

Re: Saline sonogram?
They take a little catheter (i dont know if its a catheter or a little tiny tube but whatever) and squirt water up your hooha while doing a sono. It was not painful for me at all (my HSG was waaay more painful). GL!

Hooha! Love it! That's what I call it. My SS was nothing! Didnt feel anything. And you get the results right then and there so that's good. Good luck!!

Re: Saline sonogram?
I had one - it is pretty easy. You'll get some cramping when the catheter goes in, so you might want to take a tylenol or two before you go.
Although it does get a bit messy and I had a slight "leakage" problem for the next couple hours (bring a pad lol)
Good luck - you'll be ok!

Re: Saline sonogram?
What are they looking for? I know my lining is a little thicker than they want because I'm still BFing (my prolactin levels are elevated I'm sure), but they know that already. I'm just confused as to why they changed it from a regular sono to a saline

Re: Saline sonogram?
I had one recently and unfortunately..mine was a bit painful but I don't think that's the experience of most. They are looking to see if you have anything inside of the uterus that could impact implantation. Fibroids, polyps, etc They are also checking the lining to see if there are any issues.

I'm confused, a 9 is great for an FET.

Re: Saline sonogram?
I had this done 2 weeks ago and it was pretty simple. I took some painkillers before going in and I had some mild cramping during the test and nothing after. I barely even spotted.

Re: Saline sonogram?
They check to make sure the uteran cavitiy is caler for transfering embryos and implantation.
The first 2 I had hurt, but my RE says because he struggled with the catheder because of the polyps. I go back for one today, hopefully everything is all clear and we move on.

IDK. They said my lining is a little thicker than they want, they like it to be 6 or less. Then I explained that I'm still BFing which I know impacts my lining because of the increased prolactin (which my RE knows and is okay with), and she said we need to do a saline sono instead. They didn't really explain much!!!
ETA: We're dealing with male factor IF, which is why I am confused about the saline sono. I didn't have one with my first cycle of IVF because the RE said I didn't need one.

Re: Saline sonogram?
I am surprised that they are saying 9 is too thick. I think it is great! I had 2 FET's and my linig was around 12 @ the time of transfer which my RE said was perfect. Maybe it depends on what point your cycle you are at?
