San Diego/Oceanside CA...things to do

We have two kids. Age 6 and 3. We're there over Thanksgiving week. Not looking to do Legoland, Sea World, etc.
We might do the zoo b/c the weather looks hit or miss while we're there so we might not get as much beach time as we hoped.

Any other ideas of things to do that aren't crazy expensive or touristy? We're just looking for a laid back, mellow family time. Not huge crowds and long lines. Chat Icon

I think we are going to do this one day while we are here.
We did the aquarium today in La Jolla but it was windy and cold so we'll go back on a nicer day to see the seals at the beach.

This is all north-county-centric since you mentioned Oceanside:

Have you considered the "Safari Park" outside Escondido? The animals spend more time in visible locations when the weather is cool, so this week would be a perfect time to visit.

There's a Boomers right off the 78 in Vista (at least there used to be!), that would be fun for the kids and shouldn't be too crowded... shopping/walking around at the outlets in Carlsbad (I'd want to stay away from there come Friday though)... the only playground I know of off the top of my head in Oceanside is Martin Luther King Jr. park on Mesa Drive... that's about all I can think of since I don't have kids.
