Savings account for children
Does anyone have this set up? Which bank do you use? Any special features?
Is this not worth my time and I should just stick it under his crib mattress?

We have an ING Direct account for him. I put $$ into it every paycheck.

Is the ING account in your childs social security number? I haven't been able to set up an online account with ds ssn

He has an account at Chase that I use to deposit checks- we keep only the minimum in there because the rate is garbage- and I transfer the money into an online moneymarket.
Everything is under his social otherwise we'd have to pay tax on the earnings

We have an account for DD with Citibank. Earns pathetic interest but its something..

we have a custodial bank account for him and also a 529 account that we fund quarterly. bank account is for gift money.

Citibank savings account - pathetic amount of interest, but he has a small fortune already and I don't know where else to put it at the moment. -
That account is for his BDay money, Baptism, 1st BDay, Piggy Bank dump outs, Christmas etc etc - It's 'his' to do what he wants with when he's older (buy a car, put toward a house - I don't know, whatever)
We have our own separate account set up for him for college and stuff -

No it is not. I will transfer the $$ to him when he gets older and can manage his own account.

We have a savings account at Capital One for monetary gifts he receives and a 529 account that we fund monthly.
