Scan It! For Stop & Shop shoppers
I just went to S&S tonight and had FUN shopping! 
They gave me a scanner and bags when I walked in and as I shopped, I scanned each item and put it into a bag. Then at the end, I just scanned at the self-checkout, paid and I was good to go!
Too bad DH wasn't with me, he loved scanning things when we registered for our wedding 
It's only at select stores for now, but maybe they will have it in all stores soon!
Oh, and the bonus is, they have specialized savings just for you (it links to your S&S card) AND you save $1 for doing it!

I saw that the other day, they were setting it up. Do they give you the plastic bags or the recyclable ones?

The Stop N Shop down by my dads has this. I asked my sister if she's tried it yet and she said "No".
I think during the week, we'll go grocery shopping together. I really wanna try it!

I have heard of this in other chains on different parts of the country & DH has been waiting. They don't have that by us yet though. ( I thin we were behind the times in getting Peapod too.)
Which S& S do you go to?

It doesn't. You are subject to random audits. I guess it's a trust thing.

I was at the Riverhead one on Monday and it caught my eye when I was walking out. It looked so cool!! I can't wait to try it!
ETA: How sad that 10 years ago I would have been like  but now grocery store scanners make me

We have had that out here in RI for about 6 months! It is VERY convenient!
And once in a while, you will get a random audit..the first time it happened to me I thought I was doing something wrong! LMAO!

They have had this at the Giant near me (same company as Stop and Shop) for a few weeks now. I love it! Makes checking out so easy!

I'm surprised the store near me (Medford) doesn't have it, considering Medford has Starbucks, a bank (which is in the process of being replaced by another bank), and a Peapod warehouse.
I heard about East Islip and I think South Setauket (the S&S near 347 & Nicolls - not the one on 25A) has it.

They have this at Waitrose in the UK but only if you hold their credit card. Its cool though...but I like chatting to the checkout people! I would miss that!

How do you scan fruit and vegetables since they have to be weighed?

How do you scan fruit and vegetables since they have to be weighed?
They have computerized scales with a label printer that you look up the item on. Then you just weigh the item, print the sticker, then put the sticker on the bag.
