scared!

I know I'm just a super paranoid person, but the first experience was so terrifying and heartbreaking that I'm so scared it could happen again. Let's say I do get pregnant again, the first time after a miscarriage. Is it possible I would feel no symptoms like the last time, even though the last time it's fate was already decided when I had found out? My DH keeps telling me to think positively, but it's so hard for me to think that way, when I'm so scared of this happening again! I'm trying not to even think about it, considering i'm not even sure if i'm late....but it's just so hard. I know some women never feel any symptoms, but shouldn't I feel something?

Re: scared!

i think when we experience a loss, it just scares us for the next time.. it really ruins the enjoyment of being PG after a loss..

It is natural to feel this way, but i can say that as far as the symptoms go.. every pregnancy is different. i had NO symptoms at all with either . so don't worry about that.

hang in there, and know that it will happen for you Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: scared!

I think after a loss its going to be scary for us all, and takes away the joy you would feel from the pregnancy, which is just not fair.

I know its hard to stay positive, but I think your DH is right, and every pregnancy is different, I know with my DS I was sick beyond belief, but one of my very good friends, had an amazing pregnancy with barely any symptoms.

Hang in there and I pray your time is soon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: scared!

I agree with you completely. I will be totally terrified next time. I feel that the excitment will have gone out of it a bit b/c I will be so sccared.

I guess it's a natural feeling...but try to be positive.

Re: scared!

I had a miscarriage at the beginning of the year and I am now 5 months pregnant.

Like you, I had absolutely no symptoms - the baby died 6 weeks before I even found out. I know you know how awful that feeling is.

Obviously, I was terrified from the second I found out I was pregnant and to be honest I still am. I have an appt today and I always get so nervous about going in because thats how I found out we lost our first baby - during an ultrasound.

But you just have to think positively and don't let yourself become focused on the negatives or the "what-ifs".

For me, having a baby is worth the risk of it happening again so I try to focus on that to get me through my scared and paranoid days.

I completely agree.

Last August, I had a miscarraige at 12 weeks. In November, I got pregnant again only to have another loss at 9 weeks. It was awful. I felt like there was no way I'd be able to relax after all I'd been through. On the other hand, I'd already been through the worst and knew I'd be able to deal again, the same way I dealt with it the first 2 times. I felt king of numb at that point.

I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant and have to say that I am more relaxed than I thought I'd be. (I was scared during my first trimester). I've come to terms with the fact that whatever is going to happen is going to happen and nothing I can do will change the outcome. I've chosen to enjoy this pregnancy because I don't want to look back and feel like I missed out on the joy of it.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
