Scary Night
My husband and I went to Minnesota this weekend to visit his family. About two hours before we are supposed to get on a plane yesterday I started bleeding and having slight cramps. I am only 6 weeks pg so of course I start freaking out. So I call my Dr. and she says to come to the hospital but I can't because I am in FREAKING MN! So she tells me not to get on the plane and to go to a hospital immediately. To make a long story short, they really had no explaination as to why I was bleeding. They did a Beta test and an interanl sonogram and the baby was still in there. In fact I got to see it's heartbeat. They did say the heartbeat was a little slow 98/per minute but that I am fine and to go on with my life.
Has anyone had this happen to them? I have never been so scared. The bleeding stopped later the night....but I still have slight cramps. Is this normal? Sorry this is so long!

Re: Scary Night
I had some slight bleeding around 8 wks. I think? It didn't scare me terribly, because it was very light without cramping, and it followed a doctor's examination, which may have caused the problem. The doctor's office scared me though by asking me to come in immediately. I was so worried I was losing the baby, but it cleared up and things have been fine since (5 wks. later now).
Hopefully it was nothing. Did they tell you to be on pelvic rest temporarily? That's what I was told to do for several days following.
This happens to a lot of people I think.

Re: Scary Night
i also was spotting at 6 weeks.... and went to the drs where they didnt see a heartbeat -- but a week later they did and since then everything has been fine...... i wasn't cramping though and was more spotting then bleeding..
i was put on pelvic rest and given a subscription for progestrone suppositories since my progesterone level was low.
they said it could have been late implantation bleeding (since they didnt see a heartbeat yet - just a fetal pole) or possibly a vanishing twin...
but like i said -im 16 weeks now and everything is fine....
did you fly home?

Re: Scary Night
Yes it can be normal. I had 2 episodes of bleeding (I know, its sooo scary!) but it turned out that it was just where the placenta was implanting (marginal placenta previa). I remember having slight slight sharp type pains too, different than cramping...but I wasn't sure if it was related to the bleeding or not. Don't worry!!
