Scheduled induction WWYD?
I am scheduled to be induced this Thursday, I'll be 1 week past due. Though I am so looking forward to meeting DD and not be pregnant anymore, I am having doubts about the induction.
I really want to go into labor on my own, should I ask my OB to postpone the induction to next week? I am also a little freaked out that if the induction does not work, I'll end up with a c-section.
ETA: Had a biophysical last night, everything looks great. Baby seems happy and content in my belly, should I let her stay longer?

If you have some doubts then you may want to discuss it with your OBGYN. I'm sure he or she wants the best for you and made this decision based on what's best for you and the baby.

Re: Scheduled induction WWYD?
I got induced at 39 weeks. My OB told me the longer you wait past your due date, the more chance you have that the baby will be too big for a vaginal delivery, therefore you increase your chance of needing a c-section. Also, she said if you can deliver vaginally, there's also an increase you might tear.
My induction was successful in the fact that I dilated to 10cm and was in labor, but I ended up with a c-section because DS was sunny-side up, wedged between the base of my spine & pelvis, and had the cord around his neck But the section was really not as bad as I thought..recovery was pretty easy too.
It's a personal decision..I was very hesitant to induce too..I had scheduled it but was still doubtful to the last minute, and then ended up being induced a day early because the baby's heart rate was elevated. Hopefully you'll go into labor before Thursday Good luck!

Re: Scheduled induction WWYD?
If you are really feeling uncertain about the induction at 41 weeks I would speak with your OB. As long as the biophysical profiles show that the baby is doing well and the placenta is in good shape then I would wait longer to see if I could start labor naturally. With my DS I waited until I was 42 weeks to get my induction. Past 42 weeks is when you start to see small increases in fetal mortality rates. The midwifes at Stony Brook supported my decision - I just had several biophysical profiles in the last week to make sure that all was well. My DS didn't really gain much weight over that last week (as estimated during those ultrasounds) so I personally wouldn't be overly concerned with the idea that the baby was getting too large - the baby is putting on mainly fat in the last weeks and fat is very squishy! Good luck with your decision- I hope that you are able to go into labor on your own in the next few days and are holding your baby before you know it.
