Sciatic pain advice needed

Im having pain in my low back/ left side its tight and inflamed. The pain is radiating down my entire leg but very bad in my calf, like having a constant charlie horse. Often going into my ankle. This is day 4. I have not slept in 3 days. Walking is ok and tolerable but i can not lay down or sit.
Ive tried my best to stretch but its painful
Ive tried ice.
Ive tried hot bath (feels worse and actually tightens up and cant straighten my leg)
Tried sleeping on the floor and on my stomach
Got a massage
800mg ibuprofen does nothing
Went to walk in clinic this weekend and got a shot of anti-inflamatory- didnt help at all.
Muscle relaxer helps slightly.
Muscle relaxer with the ibuprofen gave me enough relief to sleep 1-2 hours but thats it and once i wake up its so much worse from not moving

I just pace my house all night

Im in so much pain and im exhausted

The orthopedist cant see me for weeks

Im just going to the gym hoping maybe the elliptical will help to loosen it up.

What can be done?
I may just break down an go to the hospital.

Sciatic pain advice needed

Get to the chiropractor. I had sciatica my entire pregnancy and only thing that helped was the chiropractor. When mine flares up now I try and do stretches, ibuprofen and ice. Feel better I know how much it hurts.

Hot baths make sciatica worse as you discovered.

Also if you can isolate where the pain is coming from have your Dh make a fist and rub it. Mine always started in my butt. It hurts when he's doing it but it helps.

Maybe acupuncture or yoga would help.

Re: Sciatic pain advice needed

i mentioned it on your post on facebook, but it really works! get a tennis or golf ball and sit on it on a chair and roll it around to loosen up the knots.

you may want to see a neurosurgeon instead of an ortho. neuro deals with the nerves.

ETA...if you're in this much pain i would get an MRI. you probably have a herniation pushing on the nerve. i had that. once i had a microdisectomy my sciatic pain is gone!
