c/s ladies - the ones who took (needed) their pain meds

How long did you take the pain meds?

I am on Oxycodone every 4 hours and Motrin every 6 hours and Tylenol as needed.

I'm only taking 1 oxy and not 2.

I hate taking meds, but I still feel like I need them.

Between all these meds, plus the Colace and the Iron pills they gave me, I have more pill bottles shaking in my bag than Lindsey Lohan!


How did you all fare?

They only gave me darvoset, motrin and iron pills after my c/s. I took the darvoset for like 2 days after I got home and as needed. The motrin I took a little bit longer, but nothing longer than a week after.

They gave me like a week of percoset.
I took them all! After that, if I was sore I took Motrin

i took the oxycodone, tylenol and motrin for about 3 weeks, and then just stuck to motrin and tylenol. if you need them, take them. just make sure you are taking your colace twice a day, because between the iron and oxycodone, you might never poop again :O)

they gave me 60 pills of Oxycodone. 60!!! No wonder people end up with prescription med addictions.

Obviously I'd never take them for that long - I was shocked they gave that much!

Maybe tomorrow I will just take the Motrin. I'm just scared of feeling pain.

I was on percoset. I took them as prescribed for at least the first 2 days. I extended the time between doses after that. Probably by the 4 day, I was able to wait until the evening to take them. I was completely off them within a week.

I took Motrin religiously for a week, if not longer.


And I've been living under a rock this past week and did not know you had your baby!! Congratulations!!!

I was in the hospital 5 days. By day 3 I realized that the Rx pain meds were making me really loopy, it was a crazy feeling so I asked them not to give me them anymore. After that I just took motrin for 2 days and nothing once I came home.

My doc gave me percocet which I took 2 ever four hours while in the hospital and once home I took motrin during the day and percocet at bedtime. I was off everything in about a week and a half.

I took percocet in the hospital pretty much whenever they would give it to me. . I had a really hard recovery and needed that and the motrin. . once I got home I took both for a few more days then just ended up taking percocet at night and then just took motrin. the Percocet made me tired so it was harder to get myself through all the night feedings.

I still take advil once every other day or so bc i tend to get some swelling and pain still when i go for walks and it helps.

I DEF agree about the colace!! Percocet is a HUGE constipator (I know that's not the word)

I took Darvoset the first 24 hours home from the hospital. After that nothing. I came home one day earlier than normal from a c-section.

I took pain meds but I only took them when I was experiecing lots of pain, which is how my doc told me to take them. I tried to limit it becasue the pain meds made me very sleepy and I couldn't afford to be sleepy with a NB and DH working and MIL that didn't get up until 12:30pm.
