Seaford-Oyster Bay Exit 9 at like 5:45pm?
Anyone know what was going on there? Traffic was backed up all the way to the LIE. The Northbound entrance ramp at exit 9 was closed. I saw a ton of cop cars, but it didn't look like there was an accident!
Any ideas?

I don't know what it was but there was activity at 2:30 today as well.
I saw one marked and a few unmarked cars that had four or five cars pulled over heading northbound near the exit.
My first instinct was it looked like some sort of speed trap and they had it set up so they could pull several cars over at once

Rt 110 @ 109E exit was full of cops at 5pm today too - random seatbelt/inspection checks.

There were way too many marked highway and unmarked cars for that to be a check point.
I thought maybe it was a shooting. They were all standing on the ramp

I believe some guy was planning to go on a shooting rampage so they were doing traffic stops to try to find him. That's what I heard from someone who had a scanner - not sure if it's true.
ETA: FBI was involved.

I saw that too -- not sure what it was though. There were a ton of cops and detectives walking around but I don't know what it was. I heard about it on the radio and they just said "police activity"

From what I have heard a lady never showed up to work today and her car was found with things thrown everywhere at exit 9. We were stuck in it at around 5pm and I watched the news, but nothing.

I was wondering what was going on... I went to my Mom's in Oldbethpage at around 3:00 and there was a helicopter circling and circling around the area...
Then I was trying to get on the 135 at exit 9 at 3:30 and they blocked the entrance.. I had to go home through the streets...

Exit 10 is Old Country Road- this is the exit for Bethpage.
It was crazy- I've never seen that many unmarked cars before! All the cops were just walking around!

Exit 9 is Plainview Road, right across the street from one of the elementary schools was where all of the staging was taking place. I still hear the helicopters!!
ETA: I also saw a trailer with horses being pulled as I was waiting to get to my exit.

She said from her window she saw that car parked there all day and to hear what happened..possible lady missing. so sad!
That is what they were investigating.

Just heard on the news on WPLJ that it is a 29 year old Teacher from Glen Cove that is missing. Apparantly she never showed up at work & they found her car on the side of the road on the Seaford-Oyster Bay with a flat tire...
