second opinion
i know this sounds stupid, but did anyone get a second opinion before doing a d&c?

Yes, I was told by one OBGYN I was miscarrying and I directly went to a different OBGYN that I used to see. He confirmed and at that time I already started to MC on my own. If your gut is saying to have another opinion, do it. Always trust your instincts. So sorry you are going through this.

I think it depends on what you saw on the sono monitor. I saw a baby that was not moving and no HB present and no sound. I think I just trusted the situation. Though, my friend was in FL and was in a situation like what you are saying. They wanted to do a D&C and her dr in NY said to wait until she returned. Guess what...the baby was fine! What a friggin miracle!!!!
