Re: Second Stimulus and top Dems
I hope that pass a stimulus package. Without more aid, the economy will likely fall into a new recession as we head into the new year. As Powell has said - Congress usually passes too little in stimulus in economic crisis and this should be a cause of too much stimulus. There are a bunch of safe guards and programs set to expire on 12/31/2020 which will effect millions of Americans on top of the increasing numbers of CoVid. While the stock market has continued to move upwards and has erased and then some of the the March lows...that is not economic activity. The S&P and Russell are much better indicators of a positive trend upwards for those of us that invest in the equity markets. It also shows the divide in the recovery. For low wage workers...they have not seen their jobs come back and some of them won't. They don't invest in the market due to lack of opportunity to save for things like retirement or they can't afford it. Low wage workers are a substantial share of the work force.

Second Stimulus and top Dems
I don’t know enough about how the economy works to comment on a second stimulus package. I do know that I personally will not benefit from it, which is fine, as I am sure there are plenty of people who need it. I will say that there are awful people in both major political parties who just care about power. I am sure all politicians start their careers wanting to do what they think is right for our country, yes even trump. Unfortunately we have a lot of people in this country who do not think the same way so there are always going to be people who are unhappy with how things are run. I also think Valentine’s and Hofstra would be great cast members on a middle aged version of the real world, the arguments would be epic! Lmao!

Get used to it, the democrats don't care about real families.
You think Trump and Republicans care about your average American? That's hysterical.
Hmmm....you haven't done so bad yourself in the last 4 years, correct? Lowest unemployment (until covid) so the average American was doing good these last 4 years.
The amount I owe the IRS in federal taxes - despite the MAXIMUM withholding - has increased by $1k for 2017, 2018, and 2019. So, my tax liability to the IRS in 2019 was a rock solid $3k more than in 2016. I haven't gotten a refund for any year the White House was occupied by Mr. Trump.

Uggh sorry to hear that :(
I guess it pays to be poor as we get a refund, even though it is getting less as our kids are getting older, every year.

You are not alone. We have paid significantly more in federal taxes with in the last 3 years without a significant wage increase. Additionally, my insurance premiums have risen, my deductibles are much higher and less is covered.

Ugh. That really sucks.
The cap on the SALT deduction hurt for sure, it took away thousands of dollars that we use to be able to deduct from our income taxes. That has cost us money at tax time for sure. I wish they would reinstate that, maybe under Biden it will change. We shall see.

I miss the days of co-pays, it was SO much cheaper for medical back then. We have a high deductible plan and my DH and I refer to it as "tragedy insurance" because in a normal year, we don't come close to meeting the deductible and co-insurance so that 100% coverage kicks in. We're basically paying OOP for literally every single medical visit, thank goodness for HSA's so we can put money aside pre-tax and have a medical savings. You need it with these high deductible plans, they can milk you dry.
