Seeing spots - blurry vision...please help!
It just comes out of nowhere - there are no identifiable triggers. I see spots - my vision is blurry. I feel fine but can't really see or focus. It lasts for 10-20 minutes and then I get a headache afterwards!
The first time this happened to me was back in March when I was about 7 months pregnant. I thought it could be related to high blood pressure or low blood sugar (had gestational diabetes) but it wasn't. It happened one more time when I was pregnant...so I thought it was just a pregnancy thing.
It has happened 3 times since I gave birth. I recently went to my primary doctor for blood work (which was fine) and mentioned it...what else should I do? It is scaring me when it happens!

I get this. It is an optical migraine. I've been to the neurologist about it and he said it is not dangerous and somewhat "normal." I get it about once a month or so (sometimes less, sometimes more). I usually take some advil the minute I start seeing the spots - helps with the headache that comes afterward.

It's probably a migraine with aura. I get it all the time. I usually have blindspots or see flashing lights/zig zags. It lasts about 20 minutes then clears up and the headache starts!
It suckssss!
Try popping some mortin and caffeine when it comes on- to try and head off the headache!

Ditto. My sister recently found out she has Macular Degeneration, and that it's hereditary. I would get a test just to be sure.

Re: Seeing spots - blurry vision...please help!
Thanks everybody. I started researching migraines with visual auras. I never thought I had migraines but maybe??? I always just thought migraines would feel different. I am also going to get an eye exam.
Now what can I take as medication, especially because I EBF my 5 month old still? Thanks again!

I started this when I was pregnant with JJ. Eventually I would get there from time to time & now they are extremely rare for me.

I get the exact same thing too once in a while. The first time it scared the crap out of me -- I thought I was having a stroke!! Eventually I went to the eye doctor and he said they were optical migraines. Thank God it doesn't happen too often.

I would have your blood sugar checked again
blurry vision is a sign of diabetes - It was one of the signs I had
now that my BS is under control- no more blurry vision

It could be a migraine with aura or low blood sugar. I would see a doctor again.

Re: Seeing spots - blurry vision...please help!
I'd go to an optamologist for a through, dilated eye exam. That will rule things out and give you some answers.
