Send her to daycare tomorrow or no? WWYD?
Riley (6 months old and just started daycare last week) has been dealing with a stomach bug for about 5 days now...loose stools (not diarrhea), going about every 2-3 hours. Then she came down with a cold today.
Well tonight, right after I put her down, she vomited all over her crib. I felt so bad. She does not have a fever, and she was happy as anything after this. She was a bit moody today, and wanting to be held A LOT at daycare, but was overall okay.
Should I plan to keep her home tomorrow or play it by ear? What should I look for?
Do I really just wait and see if she vomits again or has a fever? I could have my mom schlep all the way out here to NJ from LI to watch her...but I'd rather not. It would be so easy if she was closer...it'd be a no-brainer and not a big deal. But I feel bad asking my mom to do this when she might be fine.
Just in general, what makes you keep your DC home from daycare? There's a bunch of guidelines my daycare has, but I'm not sure if I can still send her tomorrow if she has only vomited once, and it was the night before.
TIA!

omg so weird. Sadie threw up at my moms today. Kind of the same deal. Just once, been acting fine, but seems like she might be getting a little cold (raspy voice and a little cough).
Umm I would prob still see how she is through the night and still send her as long as she doesnt have a fever or get worse.

I know its a far drive for your mom, but, if Sadie gets sick in day care tomorrow, someone will probably have to pick her up and she won't be allowed back for 24 hours. (This was the policy in my day care where I worked).
If it were me, I'd keep her home, to play it safe. Hope she feels better real soon!

awww poor Sadie!!
My sister said the vomiting could be due to her congestion...never knew that could happen.

Abby vomits when she has congestion - the mucus causes it. Id ask your pedicatrician about saline drops - it may loosen her up a little bit. It helped Abby break up her mucus and get it up - also kept her from vomiting.

Usually day cares have a rule that if a child is sick they can't come back for 24 hours. Supposed to be 24 hours after the last time they vomited or had a fever, etc. Hope she feels better soon.

Mine is the same way - and she can't go back with diarrhea.
I would make a backup plan and she how she is the rest of the night/morning.
Hope she feels better!

Our centers rule is 24hr SYMPTOM free....
I would be really upset if my infant came down with the stomach virus because someone knowingly brought their child in "possibility" sick...

There are many reasons I think that you should keep her home.
Hope she feels better soon.

Same here - Yael vomits on occasion when she has congestion. The mucous running down the back of her throat triggers her gag reflex.
Our pediatrician always tells us to guage her health not by her fever, but by her temperment. If she seems otherwise happy and fine, then send her in. If she's lethargic, having trouble eating, particularly fussy and whiny, then I'd keep her home
