Separation Anxiety at 11 months
So dd is dealing with what I believe to be some pretty bad separation anxiety. I CAN NOT walk out of a room without her chasing after me attaching herself to my leg. When I am in the same room with her I need to either be on the floor playing with her (in which case she is either climbing into my lap, or pulling up to stand on me) SOMETIMES I can put her down in the same room and get a few things done but for the most part she needs me at arms length or within constant eye contact for a good part of the day interacting with her... does anyone have any advice/experience/ tips with what helps... It's been this way for about a month now, for awhile I was trying to "change" it, but from my research I've come to realize I can't really change it, its just a stage of development, and I really need to learn how to work with it. TIA

Yep, my DD does this too (although it doesn't sound as bad as what you're experiencing)
If I put DD down to walk to the next room, she gets all whiney/cry, soon as she sees me again she's fine. Sometimes I wait till she's really playing w/something to go pee, otherwise its whiney/cry.
The most annoying thing is though, when we're out at a restaurant, she wants to be held sometimes instead of the high chair...and she's SOOO not a clingy kid. I figure I'll enjoy this phase because soon she'll want to be so independent.
Hang in there...from what I hear, its a phase

DS is going through this stage as well. I can not leave the room without him crying and screaming mama.

Re: Separation Anxiety at 11 months
DD is 17 months this week, and has been going through this for what seems FOREVER.
Lately, it's really bad to the point if my DH even walks into the room she's clinging to me for life.
It's like mommy is the only person to exisit in this universe.

DD is the same way recently.... there were times this weekend that I would hand her to DH and walk out of the room and she would burst into tears.... lucky us
thanks everyone, good to know I'm not alone

Thank goodness it's not just my kid. She loves her some mommy!!!!! I feel bad because when we are with other family, she doesn't want to go with them at all. I have to be present or she freaks out.
