Seriously ready to hurl some people off a building. (LONG VENT)
I am a bridesmaid and we have been trying to do the shower. These discussions have been going on since November about themes and stuff. The MOH (there are two of them) have been lacking in their speed in getting back to people on decisions. They are the brides best friends and obviously know her inside and out.
For instance: All the bridesmaids compiled their black out dates for the shower. (Dates we couldn't do.) They said they would give them to the mothers. We found out it took them 2 months just to get the list to the mothers!!!!!
Now we are 7 weeks away and they still haven't agreed on theme, which means NO INVITATIONS YET! Brainstorming has occured, but only three bridesmaids have been a part of it.
Now one bridesmaid said that since we can't communicate, we should each pick one thing and do it individually. 
Doesn't that sound like a freaking disaster waiting to happen? My MIL is about to blow a gasket. She is so angry at the two MOH. We just want to do this and not have the bride know anything was amis during the planning. But after, I will smack them.

Can someone just take charge and plan it with the MIL? Tell the 2 MOH, "sorry but we deciided on the theme already?"
I know it might be additional work , but may be better off then dealing with the stress. And this is the exact reason I hate being a bridesmaid!

We essentually have done that. But since the two of us have known the bride the shortest amount of time, we were looking for some validation from those that have known her all her life. I'm just the SIL. And the other bridesmaid taking charge is the FSIL. You'd think her best friends would have some input.

BTW: The moms opted to pay for it a few months ago because things weren't going well. All they asked was for us to do the invites, theme and decorations. They already knew something was wrong.

Not to be rude, but why just not have a theme?
For my shower there was no theme. We had flowers on the tables and it was very pretty.
Are the 2 MOH's set on having a theme?

Well, not necessarily a theme. But they want the invitations to reflect something. For months, it was going to be a movie theme. (They are both huge movie buffs and their save-the-dates were movie stubs.) We were working out all those details, then it was decided to maybe go with a cupcake invitation because not everyone in the families knew they liked movies. (Which we thought was funny, because the save-the-dates were movie stubs, so everyone should know it by then. And the Bride loves cupcakes. SHe isn't into traditional things and would be bored with a frilly shower.)
So then I mentioned that we needed to figure out if we were going with cupcakes, if we should just do cupcakes instead of cake. We liked it, mothers didn't. They want the cutting for the cake. SO I said we could get a small cake to cut, with pull apart cupcakes. No response. How about cupcakes as favors? No response.
This was weeks ago.

I would just go with the movie theme and get the invites ordered. It suits the couple perfectly and it's in line with some of their wedding choices. You're right, the planning needs to get kicked into high gear now. Since the MOHs have dropped the ball, the other BMs need to step in to make this a nice shower for your friend.

I'm going through a very similar situation....my MOH is getting married in Nov (she is my cousin) and her younger sister is her MOH. For my wedding my older cousin was THE BEST!!!! She paid my entire shower, bachelorette party, paid for the $300 bm dress I picked, hair, make up w/o any complaints...she was THE BEST. And now her wedding is coming and her sister has done nothing nothing....I've asked a million times "when are we doing her shower?" "whats the theme going to be?" "Where are we having it?" and she always "yeah we're going to plan it soon?" Soon?!?!!?! Her wedding is 3 1/2 months away!!!! I wanted it to be really special for her b/c I know she made me feel really special during me time.
Sorry you are going through this as well.
