Setting up the house advice
Below is a little "design" of how I may set up my house. I am not sure if it would be weird to have the dining room where I placed it (the house is empty, so nothing is done yet). Should I switch the dining room and the sitting room? Just so you know, there is nothing that is dividing the dining room/living room...its one open area.
Could I have your honest opinions. Should I switch around the dining room/sitting room/ Thanks! Image Attachment(s):

Re: Setting up the house advice
For me, I would probably put the dining room where you are planning on having the sitting room. I think it would be more convenient to have the two right next to each other without have the bathroom in between. When you have dinner parties, etc. you only have to carry everything to the next room, instead of down the hall, kwim?

You have a wall separating the kitchen and front room?

Re: Setting up the house advice
makes more sense to put the dining room closest to the kitchen - who knows, eventually you may want to knock down a wall or create a pass through so you can see from one to the other. So i'd put the dining room wherever that would be (can't really tell from your diagram if there are walls between kitchen and sitting room)

Re: Setting up the house advice
better flow if you were to switch the two rooms.
i can see separating a sitting area from living room but it seems their is more space between sitting room in kitchen especially if you are going to be going back and forth, etc..

Re: Setting up the house advice
Thanks everyone...in the beginning, we were going to do the dining room where you are saying, but then last night my SIL suggested doing it this way. It sounded good, until I really thought about it. I thought it would be a little strange to have to walk past the bathroom!!
Ok, new question if you don't mind, if I put the living room and sitting room on the one side, and couches in both areas, do I need a wall to seperate it??

i wouldn't put up a whole wall, but i would consider doing a half wall for separation, but if you have a super bowl party, you could have people in your living room and sitting room enjoying the game on your LARGE screen tv...
how's that for day dreaming?

Re: Setting up the house advice
You dont need a wall. If you really want some seperation consider a room divider of some sort. Maybe one of those open shelf units that you you could use to display items and add storage with baskets. Will you use the sitting room for anything else, an office maybe?

Re: Setting up the house advice
I would have the dining room where the sitting room is so it's easier to bring the food from the kitchen.
