Settle a cake flavor battle
Vanilla is the safe way to go. I personally prefer chocolate but noone in my family or extended family like it. I hate those fruit fillings unless its fresh fruit.

It really depends on the cake. I have had terrible chocolate cake before but I make a homemade Guinness dark chocolate cake with vanilla icing and it is delicious. And dammit, now I want to make it.

Settle a cake flavor battle
I hate fruit in cakes.
I wanted a chocolate cake with cannoli filling and whipped cream frosting but now I guess I’ll get vanilla with cookies and cream mousse filling.
Funny about the pudding, the bakery I loved growing up made a vanilla cake with chocolate and vanilla pudding filling but it was like a thick custard, with whipped cream frosting and it was heavenly. I requested it every year for my birthday. They closed and now DH tries every year to get a bakery out here to replicate it but no one can. It’s always disgusting. So I agree on the pudding.

What you picked sounds amazing.
I personally hate cannoli filling- I think I may be the only person on the planet- so whenever there was a cake with cannoli filling I wouldn't eat it.

Vanilla cake! I very rarely will eat a chocolate cake and I would never order/choose it for myself.

but, if this is for a party... i would lean towards vanilla. it's the safer bet.

I'm a chocolate cake girl, my husband likes lemon cake. My mom prefers vanilla.
I've been making my cakes from scratch recently and I found a great chocolate cake and chocolate frosting recipe on the back of the Hershey's cocoa powder canister. Seriously, everyone just loves it and can't believe it's homemade cake.
I've found a vanilla cake recipe as well that I made for my mom and everyone loved that too. I think that is by King Arthur Flour company.

I use the Hershey's recipes, too. I tweak them a little, and I don't always use that cake, but I haven't really found one I like as much.

I would have loved chocolate cake with cannoli filling! My family is so against chocolate cake tho. Your birth day cake choice sounds amazing.
