to be honest, it doesnt matter. Pick the flavor combo that you like the best. We are big chocolate people so we always do chocolate/chocolate.

I would do any flavor combination you like. I've done yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

I did yellow cake, vanilla buttercream with crushed oreos on the inside then chocolate buttercream on the outside.

woah, this is a little fancy for me, but I may try it! Do you add the crushed oreos to the vanilla buttercream layer or to the cake batter? sorry, I'm far from an expert baker

This was the first cake I ever made from scratch and it was easy. I am not much of a baker and definitely not a cook. It got raves!

I don't think it matters but I did yellow cake/chocolate frosting even though it's not my preferred combination because I needed the frosting to match the kitkat bars for some reason lol

I've done chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting  with Reese's Pieces on top instead of M&Ms b/c it was the fall so I did it for the colors...so yummy!
