Sewing machines and pattern classes
Anyone take a class recently on beginner sewing 101 for machines/patterns?
If so where and did you find it to be useful?

i don't live on long island, but i've seen classes near me. you can check your local community college or adult learning annex at the local high school.
another place i've seen classes is at a local sewing maching/vacuum cleaner vendor. they are usually in strip malls.

Re: Sewing machines and pattern classes
thanks, i have only seen one place but you need to bring your own machine and i only have a antique sewing machine which works just i wouldn't want to travel with it. I will invest in a new one if i actually see myself using it.
One community college has classes but as a part of a major so no adult continuing ed. Perhaps when the new adult ed class catalog in our local school district comes out they will have something.
I can't seem to find any JoAnnes or Michaels with sewing classes.

Found this place but no beginner classes yet and you have to have your own machine: Sew What's New 400 Main Street Islip, NY 11751-3412 (631) 277-4215

Not sure but check JoAnn Fabrics, I think they do them as well.

I took classes here last year. Call and verify that you need to brign your own machine, the last I knew they had some avail for class use. But having my own machine there to use made things much easier when I got home. They are really friendly and helpful there as well.
