Sex and low placenta
The dr told us at our last appt to stay away from sex bc my placenta is very low. He said to stay away until it moves. But does this mean we can't do other stuff Obviously nothing penetrating. This stinks!!!

Re: Sex and low placenta
Haaaa yes you can do other things
Basically with a low placenta there's a high risk of bleeding so you want to avoid activity that could bring bleeding on ( or vigorous activity/exercise).
And yes-it totally blows

Re: Sex and low placenta
LOL thanks. I'm praying it moves. Apparently it is very common? He wants to check it again in a month or so.

How far along are you??
Here's how mine has moved (we're still watching it BTW)
20 weeks ultrascreen: partial placenta previa
30 weeks checkup: the same partial placenta previa
34 weeks: low lying, moved to 1cm above placenta (baby also turned into position between weeks 30 & 34)
I have another sono tomorrow to see if placenta has moved. My OB said I can't do natural delivery unless the placenta is at least 2cm above the cervix.
He also said a low placenta isn't really super concerning until your 3rd tri, when the baby starts getting big and has its weight on top of it.
You have plenty of time for it to move!!

My dr said pelvic rest includes 'no orgasms'.

Re: Sex and low placenta
I had a borderline low placenta at 19w1d - caused some bleeding and I went in for an interim ultrasound where they discovered it. At 20w3d for my Level II, it had completely moved away and resolved.

Re: Sex and low placenta
I have a low placenta also. You just want to avoid any vigorous activity or anything that jerks the pelvic region (no exercise, sex, etc). I also believe orgasms are not advisable.
