Shakespeare lovers!!! Awesome Awesome book!! Escape from Verona
I just finished reading Escape from Verona: Romeo and Juliet Two the Lost Diary of Juliet Capulet.
I LOOOVVVVEEEDD it.
it was so much fun, a great story, and the characters of other plays were woven right in (most notably Petruchio [TOS], Portia/Antonio/Shylock/Jessica/Lorenzo [MoV], and Othello/Desdemona [Othello] as well as many famous artists, dignitaries, and artisans of the day.
such a fun read. a great twist on one of Shakespeares most notable "tragedies".
just thought I'd pass it on. it just came out!!!

Thanks, I'm going to add this to my wishlist!
Would you believe after an English degree, an MSEd in secondary English and teaching high school English for 11 years I have NEVER read--nor seen performed--R&J!!! And Shakespeare in Love is my favorite movie...go figure! I guess I'll add this book to my R&J "peripheral" experience.

get thee to a performance. there has to be some repertory in you area doing it.
it's so awesome. reading the play is one thing, but seeing it performed you see just how funny and BAWDY it is.
we saw it performed by a repertory company upstate at the Sullivan County Community College and it was fabulous. no need for a big Boscobel/BAM/Shakespeare in the park type show!

I started reading this based on your description and I'm about 100 pages in and LOVING it. I only stopped to make dinner
I love the relationship between R & J, how she starts seeing the sides of him that she was too blinded by love to see, like that's he's typical horny male or that he's got a temper LOL.
