Shaking.. Cant believe it is happening
So DH and I have been looking at a bunch of houses on and off and this week, we just came across one that we loved. I thought to myself there is no way they are going to drop the price in to our ball park. Well sure enough they did. I know now this week we are meeting with the attorney to drop up contract and all... then what is the next step. Im freaking out about the monthly payments i am a person that needs final numbers and no one seems to be able to be exact. arghhh is it normal to be scared to death when buying your first home.

its absolutely normal!
have you had a home inspection yet? DO NOT sign any contracts until you've had a home inspection.
after you've had the inspection and if things are all okay with the house, you would go to contract meaning that you and your DH go in and sign and leave your down payment. that gets sent over to the sellers attorney and the seller signs and the check gets put into escrow. you are officially under contract and fully executed.
in your contract will be a mortgage contingency clause stating how long you have to obtain a mortgage. the standard is 45 days. so in this time, go out and shop around for rates and lock in a rate and have an appraisal done on the house. once you have a mortgage commitment, you are almost done. your attorney should have ordered title by now and that usually takes about 2 weeks to come in after being ordered. then it must be reviewed. if all is clear (which almost never happens, there's usually something that comes up on title that needs a little looking into) then you are just about clear to close and the only thing missing is homeowners insurance.
good luck and dont sweat it! dont let the process get you down. it can become very trying and stressful, but just think about the end result and how happy you'll be in your new home when all is said and done. a few weeks of stress is worth a lifetime of happiness.
