Share your secrets: How do you soothe your fussy infant in the evening?
So far, we have tried gripe water, which didn't seem to do much. I try nursing her for comfort but she doesn't want the milk so that hasn't worked. The only thing that seems to soothe DD is the pacifier. Anyone have any other ideas?

DD will either go in the swing, or DH walks around with her. She's usually fussy between 7:30-8:30.
ETA- She loves to be on her changing table, so sometimes we'll lay her there, and sing to her and play with her.

cammomile tea.. we dip the tea bag lightly so its not too strong,,and cool it off for a bottle (i dont know if youre using bottles) no sweetner obviously
ask your ped first.. mine was all for it and it works!

At what age did you start the chamomile tea? DD is only 3 weeks old. As you said, I would ask the ped b4 starting anything.

Allison LOVES to be naked...I noticed it at the ped's office, when they'd have me strip her down all of a sudden she was this calm baby I tried it at home and it worked! She's wierd I can usually get at least 10 min of alone time
Also, going up and down the stairs worked wonders during her first month...something about the bouncing, I assume.

D, this is where Happiest Baby on the Block came in...the 5 s's work like magic
1) Shushing.....saying SHHHHHHHH loudly near their ear
2) Swaddling them tight
3) Swaying them (w/ their head on your palm & their body against your arm)
4) UMMMMMMMMMMM (drawing a blank & I have to run to bus duty)
The video rocks though & its like magic

I bribe her with red sports cars. Funny, DH doesn't like when I do that.

I am also recommending The Happiest Baby on the Block by Dr. Harp. His 5 S's work like a charm....
My daughter loves a TIGHT swaddle!!!
Good Luck!

Re: Share your secrets: How do you soothe your fussy infant in the evening?
DD is usually fussy from 6:30-8pm. I usually feed her between 5 & 6pm so after that its fussy time. I really feel like she wants to be "put to bed" but I keep her up to feed her again at 8pm, then swaddle her and put her down. She falls right to sleep so sometimes I wonder if the fussy time is b/c she is just tired/overtired...not really sure. During that time I hold her and keep giving her the binky. I wonder though if I "put her to bed" at 7pm if that would be better....I think she knows the routine of bed...she gets fed, pjs, swaddled, and then goes in the bassinet...which is just for night time sleep.

My 2nd DS was colicky and the only thing that worked was bouncing on one of those workout balls. Tiring but great excercise, I lost all my weight quickly, lol.

Re: Share your secrets: How do you soothe your fussy infant in the evening?
Kaydyn used to get fussy around 8pm...I would take her in her bedroom and turn down all the lights, turn on the radio, sit in the glider and sing to her while gliding....most times that worked to soothe her. Some nights we just had to get through the hour or so of crying.

Re: Share your secrets: How do you soothe your fussy infant in the evening?
What worked for Bella during that time was a couple of things. She would respond to rocking while walking. I must have worn a hole in the carpet. Or we would take her into a dark room and lay her on our chest and rub her back. DH called it "Mommy Magic" because it always worked when I did it.
She hated swaddling so we had to do something different.
