Sheds - what kind do you recommend & why?
We're looking to get a shed - on the larger size to put down.
Not a permanent structure as we will not be pouring concrete.
Any recommendations are appreciated.

Above a certain size you will need a permit. The shed place near us told us about that - I think it was over 8 x 10 required that. Our town also has regulations on placement - I think it has to be at least 4 feet from the property line.

My mom had a Rubbermaid one similar to this for over 10 years in her yard. The roof blew off in that big windstorm we had but that was probably because it was getting old. She loved it, so easy to put together and so sturdy.

We got one from Home Depot and are very happy with it. It is 8x10 and we did not need a permit and it is on cinder blocks.

We have an 8x10 cedar one. Love it - it's on cinderblocks and we didn't need a permit.

We got a rubbermaid. I was going to get a coated steel one but the rubbermaid is rust free. Low maintenance!!!!
We got a 8x10 or 8x12. No permit for us but we had to have it in particular location in our yard. It could not be towards the front of the street.
You might need a permit if you want to wire for electricity.

I admire one in my town that looks custom made to the house. The siding matched and it has shingles that match the roof of the house and a really nice door. I wonder how $$ it was.

We got one back in 2005 from Kaufolds...it's big enough for my motorcycle, lawnmower and other assorted tools..very happy with it, and like the look of it.

Re: Sheds - what kind do you recommend & why?
We got a basic one for like $200 at Lowes a few years ago. Dh and FIL built a wood platform for it (our yard is hilly in that area). It looks great. Every 2 years DH treats the wood base.
ETA: BJs/Costco usually has a really nice one for close to 1K. We were very tempted to get that one!

We bought a Royal(winchester model) a few years ago. It is a kit, all vinyl, we bought one extention kit and a floor kit. It was 8x10, and we made it 8x12 with the extention. It was easy to put together and the floor kit is great. It is not a permanent structure and is not too tall either(would require a variance) We got it at either Home Depot or Lowes. (this is not my yard)

Re: Sheds - what kind do you recommend & why?
We got ours from Costco.
I think it's an 8 X 10.
It's on cinder blocks.
That's all I know about it It arrived when the kids were 3 months old and they were well over a year old before I even had a chance to really look at it
Call me. I'll put DH on the phone and he can talk to Snuffie

Re: Sheds - what kind do you recommend & why?
Our looks pretty similar to this (but without the Xs on the doors). We got the siding, shutters, windows and roof to match our house.
It is 8x12 (that is the biggest we could get in our town without a permit, and the roof is 14 feet high at the peak because our town let us go this high. But we got this style roof This style roof allowed my DH to build a "shelf" about 3-4 feet deep all the way around, above our heads to provide for more storage.
ETA: we have it on a bed of RCA (I think that is what it's called -- the stuff you put under a patio that isn't on concrete).

Would you consider building one? Neil built ours and so far 7 years later its still standing
I would look into it - its a huge savings.
