Shin splints?
Why do I feel like I ran 10 miles today??
I mean, just as part of my day, I probably walked 3 miles-- but that's nothing really new. My shins and ankles are so sore.
Is this common?

Re: Shin splints?
i'm feeling the same way - actually it was one of the first things that made me go about a week before i missed AF it felt like my legs were going to cramp just from walking. now (i'm about 4w-ish) i feel like i sprinted up flights of stairs. it's definitely a new thing for me as i'm used to walking 3+ miles a day.

Re: Shin splints?
Are your legs swollen? I would say to increase your potassium (bananas). That always helps me with leg pain.

Re: Shin splints?
When I was pregnant I had the worst shiin splints. I was in so much pain i used to have to take breaks when I walked - like the PP said, bananas are good. Wear really supportive shoes. Your shins probably can't handle the extra weight.

Re: Shin splints?
Were you prone to shin splints before pregnancy?
I'm a runner who is prone to shin splints, but haven't had any issues since being pregnant...but I also had to stop running at 5 mos. because of cramping...
Best thing you can do is ice them and try not to overwork them by exercising too much with weight bearing activity...

Re: Shin splints?
no swelling...
I would get shin splints from time to time-- but, not really from exercising-- maybe on a day when I did a TON of walking or something. But, I would not necessarily say I was prone to them.
I think it was most likely the boots I was wearing... who knows. Just seems strange to be so sore from just commuting and doing an errand at lunch.
I also don't think I have gained enough weight for my legs to not be able to support it. If that's the case, I am really in trouble come December/January!

Re: Shin splints?
Shin splints don't have as much to do with weight as they do the strength of the muscles on and surrounding the shin bones....so I wouldn't worry about that. It was probably just a combination of the boots and and a little overworking the muscles. If your boots had heels, that can definitely contribute...
Feel better!

Re: Shin splints?
I got this when my weight began to shift forward. I got it for both PGs at the same point, when my belly started to form and the weight shifted. It went away once my body got used to my new center of gravity
