shopping cart seat?

Did you guys register for these? I'm just wondering if its something I need, I would imagine I would try to shop without the baby whenever possible!

Re: shopping cart seat?

I use with my dd when she was able to sit up on own.. its a life saver b/c shes occasionally tried to suck on the cart handle.. Chat Icon Its not something exspensive and wont need ASAP, if you want you can put on, but someone may buy in place of something else you may want for right away.

Re: shopping cart seat?

I had one for DS and will be using it for DD. It is great. We used it in shopping carts & in restaurant highchairs.

Re: shopping cart seat?

I register for one. I'm not a germaphob, but I think shopping carts are one of the most grossest things...

Re: shopping cart seat?

I didnt register for one and thought it was a waste but then I saw a report on teh news about grocery carts having more traces of fecal matter than some toilet seat and i was grossed out and bought one for myself and my ILs who watch DS.

DS has never put his mouth on the cart but still his hands touch it and that makes me want to get sick thinking about him then putting his hands in his mouth afterwards....

Oh yeah I am probably one of hte least germ conscious people around ....

I got one. I haven't used it yet b/c DD still tips over when sitting so I keep her in her car seat. But, I will def start using it soon. Those shopping carts carry so many germs! I saw on the news about a month ago a story about how they have more germs than public restrooms.

ETA article. This is older than the news story I saw, but on the same subject: Article

Re: shopping cart seat?

You will have to shop with the baby eventually, even if it is just occasionally. Chat Icon

I was against getting one, didn't think we needed one. DH (the germaphobe) talked me into buying one. I am the main one who uses it and love it for a few reasons.

First, it does cover all the icky germs.

Second, it has loops on it where I can attach little toys to keep DS busy and happy while we shop.

Third, it has a belt on it that loops through the cart and the baby can always be strapped in. You don't have to worry about whether the cart itself has a safety belt or not.

Finally, if DS drops something he is holding, most of the time it falls into the seat cover, not the cart itself or the floor (unless he purposely does that Chat Icon )

I would recommend getting one - you can also use it to cover highchairs in a restaurant.

I put one on my registry. I don't even put my handbag in the seat of the cart.

Re: shopping cart seat?

I got one after DS1 ended up with a nasty stomach virus shortly after I found him sucking on the handle of a cart at the supermarket. Coincidence? I think not.Chat Icon
