Short Weekend Trip Ideas
So, my fabulous MIL has agreed to watch our DDs for two nights at the end of July. I am planning on surprising DH with a little getaway and need ideas please! A few criteria:
- Needs to be within reasonable driving distance, ie. less than 3 hours, so we can maximize our time away (we live in East Islip)
- I am open to booking a hotel, motel or B&B
- I do not want to do NYC
- Somewhere with a cute town to walk around and restaurants would be great!
- I can't break the bank... no more than $250 per night
Any ideas?
ETA: Please share any specific hotels/motels/B&Bs that you've stayed already as I am in a time crunch right now!

Not too many.. LOL ...But I have been looking onto Cape Cod for a late Summer Getaway and The two places I'm considering base don reviews ( here and online ) are Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club or Rivieria beach resort ( or any of the red jacket resorts) ...If you look around on priceline...hotwire...expedia, etc you can find them for defintly les sthen $250 even for a summer weekend.
In Boston I only stayed years ago , and had $$ then ( the pre kid days ) and stayed at the Lenox. It was like $250 then, so probably in the $350 range now a days but its a GORGEOUS hotel! But theres a LOT of Good ones in Boston at reasonable prices!
In A/C we normally stay at the Tropicana or any Bally's resorts. The other are too much $$ for us.

Re: Short Weekend Trip Ideas
I have always wanted to go to Newport, RI.
How about Lancaster County, PA. or Boston

Re: Short Weekend Trip Ideas
Chatam in Cape Cod. There is a really cute town to walk, with restaurants and shops.
I forgot the name of the place we stayed. It was a cute motel on the beach, nothing too fancy or pricey.
There also is the Chatam Bars Inn which is really nice but $$.
I know there were a few B & B's in the town. I am sure if you look it up online you can find the names of the places.

Re: Short Weekend Trip Ideas
Boston is always a fabulous quick get a way!
Ocean City, MD is great but closer to a 5 hour drive.
