Should I be worried...Kicks Related

I was just looking at prior posts of mine and with DS#1 and I felt him kicking at 17wks2days. Today I am 18wks4days a I don't feel anything with DS#2.

I know my doctor said that if I don't feel anything by 22wks then she'd be concerned. I guess I'm just concerned now because this is my 2nd child and everyone has felt the kicks sooner with their 2nd. I hope I'm just worrying myself and nothing is wrong.

TIA!

Is it possible you have an anterior placenta? That could be why.

I'm not sure what that is. I didn't have it with DS#1...could I still get that with DS#2? Also, would it come up on an ultrasound? If so, they never said anything.

Do you think it's odd too that I don't feel the kicks by now?

An anterior placenta is one where the placenta forms in the front of your body instead of the back towards the spine. Where the placenta forms is different for each child, and when your sonographer might not have told you that you had this. It is not a problem to have an anterior placenta, it is just a bit of extra cushion so it makes feeling kicks a bit more difficult.

18 weeks is still early. Try not to worry. I am sure you are going to feel the baby move any day. Chat Icon

I had an anterior placenta with ds and felt his kics alot later... it also made it harder for them to find his heartbeat at every appointment.. (though my pita ob at the time didnt tell me this and instead blamed it on the doppler that he had.. then his midwife told me at 33 weeks that that was the issue)....
