Should I call the ped? or wait?

DD is a month old and woke up very very congested. Sneezed a few times and big boogies came out. She's still congested.I tried clearing it out with the aspirator, but it's too far up there and I can't. I took her temp bc she feels very warm and it's 99.5. I think with newborns a fever is 100.5?? I'm definitely keeping an eye on her and will retake her temp, but should I call the ped now or wait a bit?

Since she is so young, I'd call and see what your ped says.

My DD had the same symptoms and the ped wanted to see her because she was just 3 weeks old.

and yes, fever in newborn is 100.3 and above.

Call to ease your mind. The congestion thing, may have nothing to do with illness though. That young, my DS was always congested--he sounded like a pugChat Icon until I introduced the humidifier in his room.

DD was the same way and the dr said that she would be congested for the first few weeks. I'd call to play it safe but I wouldn't worry :)

oh yea, she's always congested...but this sounds a bit more so than usual. we do use the humidifier, but didn't last night..maybe that's why.

I'm going to give her a bottle, take her temp again and then call.

thanks girls, didn't want to be paranoid mom! lol
