Should I delete the review?
I left a negative review for a vendor on etsy. She promised me an item for a specific date. 5 days before I needed the item I saw she still had not shipped it. I contacted her and she told me that it did in fact ship, but her mom had emergency surgery and she just hasn't updated the shipping info. Ok fine. Well the 5 days went up and I never got the item. I contacted her again and asked for a refund and she said ok, no mention of the item or returning it to her or just keep it. Reason being, it never shipped in the first place. I left negative feedback today saying exactly what's written above. That she promised by a certain date, lied about having shipped it. She has now sent me a note asking me to delete my review as this is how she takes care of her kids and she did refund by money. I responded that although I am understanding that life happens, she flat out lied. She could have told me the first time I contacted her that she wasn't going to be able to get me the item and should have offered me a refund then. She chose to be dishonest. But of course, now I'm feeling guilty. Should I remove it? Or should potential customers be able to see the truth and make a decision for themselves?

I would leave it. My DH has his own business and takes his reviews as they come. If you choose to behave a certain way in business you have to deal with the consequences.
She will think 2x next time she lies in business

Should I delete the review?
If she's concerned about her feedback and supporting her kids, she should deliver on her promises.
Overall, I wouldn't even think twice about this seller and move on. Unless it's a really big issue, just let it go.

Re: Should I delete the review?
No. If you are giving honest feedback, I don't think you should delete it at all. You can note in your review, she did offer a refund. However, you were counting on the item arriving on the date she promised and I think it is only fair that you leave your honest review for other potential buyers out there.

I agree. Leave the review and forget about her. If she was worried about negative reviews she should have been honest with you from the start.

Re: Should I delete the review?
She's just trying to guilt you.
Maybe she doesn't even have kids.
Whatever the case may be, she gave incorrect information and now she has to face the consequences. I'm pretty sure that if she had a review posted like that, you would have thought twice before ordering. Now other people know and can make informed choices.

Re: Should I delete the review?
PLEASE LEAVE IT.
this is how others can accurately judge if they feel like doing business with her.
if she wanted to have a responsible business with good feedback, than she would be responsible and not just bully her customers that she didn't meet expectations of.
i tried using someone on etsy and they never got back to me. despite multiple efforts on reaching out. it was hard to find bad reviews on etsy and i was so confused but then i googled and found bad reviews elsewhere. apparently she was threatening everyone too or using excuses like "being a mom comes first". Of course it does but you don't get to use that line every single time you do something wrong or decide you don't feel like working that day.
It's just be honest like they should have been with you right away when you contacted her. honesty is the most important thing.

Re: Should I delete the review?
Can you add that she gave you a full refund? I mean I dont think you should change it, because maybe she does this all the time and guilts people to take it down. If its a one-off thing that will be reflected in her feedback and buyers will see that its not the norm.

This.
Etsy isn't a business as normal businesses are. They are humans who have one offs. If I wanted cold hearted robotic processes I'd shop the brick and mortar stores. But I give more leeway to etsy. If she fessed up and apologized and gave me my money then I'd take it down.
Things do happen.

What she does with the money she earns has nothing to do with running a business.
and if that were her sole source of income, I'm pretty sure it would take a priority in her life.
Etsy is full of people that come up with every personal reason as to why they did not fulfill their business promises. As a shopper of Etsy, I'd want to know what to expect when I order. Not saying I wouldn't order from someone if I liked their product but if timing was an issue, I would know to adjust my expectations.

She didn't fess up until after I contacted her the second time. She should have told me when I first contacted her that she wasn't going to be able to do it. And she should have offered a refund rather then my having to ask for it. And to clarify to some of the pp, I did say in my review that she gave me a refund when I requested it.

I cannot even tell you how many times this has happened on Etsy with myself and my family members. They all have the same excuses, and it's getting old! I would let the review remain!

Should I delete the review?
I'm so tired of hearing "but this is how i feed my kids!" as some sort of pass or excuse.
News flash -
Most people who work (whether hobbyist on etsy or in corporate level) is working to support their kids (if they have them)
Can you imagine ******* up at work and getting a bad review and saying "but please! I'm doing this to support my kids!"
Give me a break
Leave it. And don't feel badly.
I'm fiesty when I'm hungry!

If the seller had been upfront when she was initially asked ("I'm so sorry, my mom's been sick, I will refund your money immediately") then I might be inclined to agree, but it's the fact that she lied that bothers me.

I agree with this. I would leave it because other people may also need their orders within a timely manner, and your review may help them avoid the hassle this seller put you through. If she needed a good review so badly she should have provided better service, or at least have been more honest and upfront from the start.
