Should I just stick to my old eating habits?
I’ve been trying to lose about 10 pounds. Nothing drastic. I am a single mom and I work a full time job and another part time job as well. I don’t get much time to exercise (e.g. at the gym) so I walk everyday with DS and/or DS and my dog, Yogi. I’ve been trying to eat better, but nothing seems to be working. I feel like I don’t know what to eat! Nuts, fruit, yogurt, and lots of water. But, the healthier I eat, the worse I feel! For example, I had some nuts today and some ham on multigrain bread for lunch. My stomach is killing me! Its’ like a gassy/stabbing feeling. It happens all the time now. Even though I’m not happy with my weight, at least I didn’t feel sick! What am I doing wrong? Why does my stomach feel like this?

I could definately use help with this!
breakfast: a tea with a small amount of sugar and milk Yogurt with(sometimes without) granola WW egg sandwich a bowl of cheerios Luna bar
lunch: Turkey sandwich WW/lean cuisine meal peanut butter and jelly on whole grain bread fruit water 100 calorie snack pack
dinner is my worst b/c something I don't eat dinner! I find myself not cooking as much because I'm living single and my son is only 2 so he only eats certain things. If I cook, I make baked chicken/turkey cutlets, fresh pasta (try to use whole grain) and home made sauce, corn, green beans,
I don't have a wide variety of things that I eat. I try to snack on nuts or some dry cheerios during the day also. HELP!

Alright I would maybe try to take out some of the carbohyratey things like the 100 calorie snack pack and replace them with veggies..same with the yogurt or luna bars.
I might try something like this :
Egg whites, whole grain bread with your morning tea.
Salad with lean protein- turkey, chicken, etc. Piece of Fruit
Dinner--YES YOU HAVE TO EAT REAL FOOD!
Lean protein with veggies or salad and a small amount of a carbohydrate.
Make sure you throw some snacks in there too. As far as snacking on nuts, that is totally dangerous for me because I can't say no. I find that with anything, portion control is the main component. I would snack on nuts for sure if you like them but make sure you arent eating a ridiculous amount of them. Snack on fruits, veggies or have a greek yogurt or something like that. I would aim to eat 5 times a day maybe even 6. Does any of that help?

Yes! So no Luna bar? I was the kind of person that would eat a bagel of croissant every single morning, so cutting it down to a luna bar was a lot for me. I like Yogurt, but I usually like the fruity ones so they aren't so healthy. What about dinner? I do chicken and turkey when I cook. But, what other options are there? Aside from salad, which never makes me feel satisfied unless there is a ton of garbage in it (cheese, croutons, lots of dressing). If I'm only cooking for one, what are some suggestions?

You may be having gas and stomach pain if you increased your fiber intake. It can take awhile for your body to adjust. Nuts can also be hard to digest. I would use a program or app to track you calories and macronutirents (personally, I like fitday.com best and it is free). I agree with Lauren about adding fruits and veggies. Try to eat dinner. There are so many healthy quick choices. You can buy frozen veggies and chicken cutlets and they can be prepared easily. The women's health magazine website has a lot of great diet and exercise information, They have many workout that can be done at home with minimal equipment.

you are having stomach pains from the increased fiber & nuts. It will take time to adjust but you will --- just keep adding fiber slowly.

those ww meals (or really any frozen meals) are very high in sodium. it actually bloat you. instead of eating one for breakfast can you just make scrambled eggs on an english muffin?

I actually had 2 eggs and a piece of multigrain toast this morning while I was getting ready for work. I still feel stuffed!

Are you eating all of that for lunch and breakfast?
I notice a lack of fresh fruit and veggies for the most part.
each meal should have fruit and veggies.
Also, lose the luna bars. I think they make you feel like you are doing something good but are really just filler.
