Should I still apply for this?
There's a State job posting at the SBI here. It's definitely somewhere where I'd love to be. The reason why I'm not sure about applying is because of #1 and #2. They want you to have all of this knowledge about it, but how would you get that knowledge without working with it? It's not an interal post, so anyone can apply. Any thoughts? Also, what do you think they mean when they say thorough knowledge of a work processor? I know word processing programs, but is there actual word processors? Other than these I have all of the qualifications. What do you think? Should I still apply? Thanks so much.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Considerable knowledge of the written and unwritten laws regarding
the confidentiality of personal information.
2. Thorough knowledge of
the Division of Criminal Information Computer Services.
3. Ability to
work independently and follow specific instructions.
4. Ability to
process repetitive material.
5. Considerable knowledge of office
techniques.
6. Thorough knowledge of a word processor.
Training and Experience Requirements
Graduation from High School and Demonstrated Possession of Knowledges,
Skills and Abilities gained through at least two years of office
assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of
training and experience. Management preferences:Experience with public
contact, typing speed - 45 wpm; data entry experience and knowledge of
microsoft products. Degrees Must Be From Appropriately Accredited
Institution.

#1 sounds like they're talking about something like HIPPA which takes all of 5 minutes to explain to someone.
It can't hurt to apply just be upfront and honest on what your skills are, maybe they'll be willing to train you.
