Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
We followed the book "Babywise," and our first DD started to sleep through the night at 8 weeks. Now we are using it with our 4 week old, and so far her night schedule is: bf at 11:00pm, she sleeps until 4am, eats and goes right back to sleep, and then eats again at about 7:30am. Hopefully she will continue to sleep more and more at night as the weeks go on.

My son is 7 months old and still doesn't sleep through the night. He eats 2-3 times a night.
At your DD's age he was eating every 1-2 hours still.
same here
Me three-times two-though Ronan has started doing some good stretches for me. Even if they would STTN-it is teething, gas, etc that would wake them up anyway.

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
My DD slept through the night 2 or 3 times the week I returned to work - she was 12 weeks old.
That was just a fluke, or my baby showing me some extra consideration since it was hard enough to leave her.
She didn't sleep through the night again until she was 5 months old.
Now at 17 months, she still wakes up every now and then. She woke up 3 times this week - Monday night at 2, Tuesday night at 3 and Wednesday night at 4.
Last night when I put her to bed I kissed her, wished her sweetest dreams like I always do and I told her "I don't want to hear from you before 6am! Not at 2! Not at 3! Not at 4! 6am!!"
She listened!

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
DD is 6 weeks old and is sleeping 6-8 hours each night. She is formula fed and taking about 20-23 ounces per day. We try to keep her stimulated and up as much as possible during the day. We swaddle when needed and also have a white noise machine in her room. HTH!

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
My DD was born 5/4 of 2008, and she slept through the night for the first time on 7/1/08, on her own. Then on 7/2 we started the CIO method and never had a problem with night sleeping since.
I'm not sure if BFing is different or if you are BFing. I've heard, but not sure if it's true, that EBF infants take longer to start sleeping through the night - again that could be totally wrong, I only BF'd/pumped actually for the first month as DD had no interest in BFing. We also didn't use a pacifier so I don't know if that made a difference either.

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
Thanks for all the replies. It makes me feel like my DD is normal. I guess it wouldn't bother me so much that she wakes up to eat if she would go back to sleep when she is done. But is it usually close to 3 hours that she is up! She just won't get into a nice restful sleep after that nighttime feeding. I guess I just have to keep hoping.

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
My DD was still waking every 2 hours to nurse when she was that age.
ETA- She is now 16 months and still will wake up a couple of times a week.

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
While some babies do, many don't. So to answer your question, no.
DD is almost 4 1/2 months & gets up for one feeding.
Some babies won't sleep through the night for a year.
You never know.

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
DD didn't STTN until 7 months or so...and she still has nights where she wakes up. At 6 weeks DD was up every 2 hours!

Re: Shouldn't she be sleeping through the night already?
She's still so little to be sleeping through the night. My daughter didn't stop the eating every 3 hrs. routine until she was 3 months old.

Less than two months, I wouldn't expect it now. In fact, I'd be pretty dang happy with 3-4 hours at a time. I know that's not what you wanted to hear.
ITA -- she may be feeling some gas if your hearing a lot of groaning -- maybe a formula change?
