shoving hands in mouth
so DH is home with DS today. he said that DS was fussing a LOT when he was trying to give him his bottle this morning - and as soon as he took the bottle out he would shove his hands in his mouth.
i didn't think he was teething but my sister said that he refused a bottle from her on tuesday too.
what gives?

Re: shoving hands in mouth
My little ones been doing the same thing. I think its the age when they start putting everything in their mouths. Aiden also likes to shove his blankie and the burping cloth in his mouth. I just gently pulll his hands away and give him his milk.

Re: shoving hands in mouth
DS does this too...always both fists near his mouth. I don't know what it is either.

Re: shoving hands in mouth
My lil one does this too...I sometimes have to pry her hands out of her mouth...this can be kind of frustrating when I'm feeding her...but I know this is her way of learning...sometimes I tell her "like how the fingers taste?"...LOL... She is such a cutie...

Re: shoving hands in mouth
when my dd did this, my peds said she was teething, tho no teeth actually showed up for months later, it was still teething, and a way of them soothing themselves.

Re: shoving hands in mouth
My Aidan is doing the same. He just loves putting his hands and his mouth and he is also sucking his finger away...I simply distract him when I catch him.

Mine too, right on schedule!!! He's also really drooly, so I think it's a 'pre-teething' phase??? He gets about 85% of his fist in his mouth, its impressive!!!

Re: shoving hands in mouth
I think its teething. Refusing a bottle is generally a good sign. I know a friends DD who got her first tooth around 4 months.
At this age they do tend to explore their world by putting things int heir mouths, but because he refused a bottle and is more fussy than normal there might be more to it!
GL
ETA: DO you have Hylands teething tablets? If so give him 1 or 2 and see if he is easier to feed....if you dont have them I would pick them up on your way home just in case he gets uncomfortable
