Show me your closet system in a walk-in closet if you installed it yourself!
This is the next project DH and I are going to tackle... hopefully during this long weekend while my mom is visiting so she can watch DD! DH put a closet system in DD's closet from Lowe's but it's just a regular closet, not a walk-in. How hard is this going to be? The closet has a weird angle in the back, should we just do shelving/hanging on the two sides and leave the back open?
Here's a pic... it looks exactly the same except with clothes and shoes stuffed in it. We didn't paint it or patch the holes or anything.
And here is the closet layout... Image Attachment(s):

Re: Show me your closet system in a walk-in closet if you installed it yourself!
i wish i could show you mine but we didn't do our closets yet
i saw nice systems at lowes, HD and BBB but i haven't priced any of them yet....i would have to go with the least inexpensive one but i would love to get a wood one that matches our floors maybe in my dreams
my closet is also a weird shape. it's kind of like yours except the door to walk in is on an angle. it would be like if my door was in your bottom right corner. i can walk inside mine but it's not that big...
i was thinking of doing something where i would have drawers somewhere - instead of shelves - right now there is a system in there but it's the wire rack kind, like you have on top now. i have wire rack shelves going down one wall and it's a PIA and it ends up making a huge mess of my closet b/c clothes just fall over the place. so i know for sure that when i do my closet i am adding in closing drawers instead of shelving so that it's like having a small dresser in the closet. i will also keep space to hang clothes and then maybe try to add in a space for shoes..
my closet is a disaster, i wish i was doing mine this weekend

Here is my master bedroom (with nothing in it yet) and the nursery one DH did.
In the master, which you can't see in the picture there are also 2 rods on one side and the other side of the wall has another rod for dresses and a shelf and hooks for belts, etc...
Everyhting is from Home Depot.

I would do some kind of shelving thing on the back wall and the arched wall for shoes and baskets for hats and bags. Use the sides for you and DH for the racks.

We just put in a really nice system from John Louis Home. We got it from Lowes. They had it on the website but not in the stores. It's all wood and it was reasonably priced. They also sell it on overstock.com.
If you go to the company webiste, they have tons of pictures and ideas for different set up options in all different shaped closets.

Looks awesome, thank you!!! I definitely want to do that shelving that curves along the corner!

I freaken hate those wire racks, apparently we had an entire closet system in our closet made of those but the owner (when it went into foreclosure) removed most of them so now we just have giant holes everywhere.
We DEFINITELY need shelving and drawers. We don't have a linen closet in our room (or anywhere in our house for that matter! - seriously what were the builders thinking??) so we need shelves for towels and stuff. Right now they are underneath our bathroom sink!

Yea the wire really stinks, so you're not missing anything but how nice of them to take the rest of the closest system with them
And guess what - I don't have any linen closets either!!! I still haven't figured out where to keep the towels for my master bathroom. The other bathrooms I keep them under the sink but for our master bath I have no idea where to put them. I can't figure out if it's better to find a place in the bathroom or put them in the clothes closet.
I am sure whatever you do will come out great. You have to post pictures and let me know if you find anything inexpensive (cheap!) while you are looking.
