Show me your toy storage ideas

I need to get something to house DS's toys and books.

We are in a 1 bedroom co-op, so whatever we get can't be too big.

Just trying to get an idea of what the best thing is to organize them all. Right now I have them in small wicker baskets. They aren't working now that he likes to dump everything. Chat Icon

Plus, I feel like he can't see half of the toys because they are in a basket. It's the reason I don't want a toy chest. I was thinking something with cubby like shelves.

I am in a 2 bdr coop and I bought the cubbys for our livingroom and one for DS' room. The ones in our livingroom (4x4) we have baskets in to hid the toys. The one in his bedroom (2x4) has no baskets so he can see his books and toys. I got them from Ikea and they were a pretty good price (before the basketsChat Icon )

How about this? I have this in my LR for a few toys. It holds a nice amount.

Not sure which one you're talking about.

Is it the Badger Basket Unit? That was one of the ones I was thinking about getting.

I have the IKEA EXPEDIT storage cuby wall unit - with the storage bins that fit in - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00208646/
They come in different sizes but able to store toys on bottom 2-3 rows and then I have top 2 rows to use for office material/books/etc.

Did you buy the Expedit ones from Ikea?

These are the cheapest units I have found, but I thought the baskets would run me some extra $$.

Bought 2 at Target and works well. You'd be surprise at how much it stores plus you will have accent bench for visitors. DD has a lot of small toys and it does the job. Chat Icon

Yes...I got the light color for the living room and the dark for DS' room to match his espresso furniture. The baskets are a killer (which is another reason I didnt get any for the unit in DS' room).Chat Icon

I think these might be the most practical ones for us.

I was looking at PotteryBarn, but they are overpriced and the shipping is insane!!!

i am pretty sure the 9 cube one from target is cheaper before baskets. Its 39.99 the thing is i dont know if they are smaller then the IKEA one. meaning the cube sizes, i know the IKEA one has more cubes in ceartin models

for me i dont really want the bakets anyway cause i want DD to be able to see what toys she has. I may get like 3 max for small toys

That is what we did (only a few baskets for small toys), I have the target one also in DD bedroom and while it is nice I think that the IKEA one is more sturdy. And the fabric baskets (from target) fit in the IKEA cubbys.

I cant speak for the ones at Target, but I CAN vouch for the ones at Ikea. They are NOT flimsy and attach to the wall easily. They are much more like "furniture." I bought a bookcase from Target last year and the quality is nothing compared to these.

Re: Show me your toy storage ideas

I have the 9 cubby one in espresso from Target. I got it on sale and it is really nice & easy to put together for what we paid.

They also had cloth basket/drawer things in different colors that coordinated that were also on sale at the time. I don't remember them being expensive at all.

This is what I got - except I got the 8 cubby one (they were the same price).

They were on sale last week for $39.99 and the cloth baskets were on sale for $5.99 (usually $6.49 but, they have two backs available for $12.49).

It does the job - DS is a dumper as well and he hasn't done as much dumping since I've reorganized - he only dumped on Friday when he had a friend over - because he was excited and wanted to show her all of his toys.

ETA - I also got storage ottomans as well.

We have the 8 cubby one too from Target. It's perfect. We use some of the cubby for drawers for toys and some have no drawers and we put his books there.

Re: Show me your toy storage ideas

There is nothing to worry about it. I can say that there are many more option that you researching on online and keep small or big storage bin that might be help you to keep things in well manner. For toys math basket would be the best option that you can get many stores.
