Shower debate
So with this fun thing called Covid there are some days we're just home all day. My boys are 11 and 9. So I told them since we didn't leave the house take a quick shower and don't worry about washing your hair. DH says they should wash their hair. I don't wash mine everyday. I shower everyday and sometimes twice depending, but my hair I can go every other or every 2 sometimes. He says guys wash their hair everyday.
If you have boys or just your DH do they wash their hair everyday?

Shower debate
They do wash their hair every day. My older DS has thick hair and it gets an indent from his XBox headphones so he washes it. My younger DS really likes to take showers so he washes his hair too.

Re: Shower debate
DH washes his hair every day. My son is under 2, but I don't give him a bath every day- every other day so he washes his hair then. Personally, I don't wash my hair every day- and not because of Covid and being home.

Re: Shower debate
It's actually bad to wash your hair every day- unless you have super oily hair. My hair stylist said daily washing is one of the worst things you can do to dry the hell out of your hair and cause damage. My hair is so dry and damaged I only wash it twice a week.
DH washes his every other day though- showers daily but washes his hair only on days he goes to the gym- which is every other day

Shower debate
All I could say is, if they manage to get in the shower, it's enough.
My daughter is 12. She's going to school on a hybrid schedule now. She will shower on a Friday morning for school. Then, if she doesn't have school on Monday, she won't shower again until Wednesday morning because she has school then -- 5 days later!! So, I'd be happy with your boys not washing their hair!

Re: Shower debate
If they shower they usually wash their hair. If they are home doing nothing I don't push the shower.

Re: Shower debate
DH washes his hair every day. It gets oily otherwise. I shampoo my hair about twice a week. The other days, I sometimes rinse and condition, and I sometimes do nothing. My hair is thick and dry, so it does not need to be shampooed every day.

Re: Shower debate
Thanks all! So sounds like most men and boys do everyday. My DH is a contractor so has to wash everyday. Plus they do put product in their hair.
I did forget my 11 year old has to wash out the gel.
I don't wash my hair everyday and some days will just put a little conditioner in it.

Your kids take showers/baths everyday? I'm lucky if I remember to get my kid to shower once a week.
(When I had hair) - I washed it twice a week but I had curly hair and it didn't look greasy like straight thin hair can look.

My daughter used to be so bad with this. I'd have to fight her to take a shower and if I didn't push she'd go almost a week if it was up to her. All of a sudden now that she is 10, she is suddenly more aware of her looks and grooming and she goes in faithfully every other day without me having to say a word because she tells me that her hair looks greasy if she goes any longer. (She inherited her dad's oily hair)

Re: Shower debate
both DS and i have very thick, curly, dry hair. i wash my hair weekly. if i do it any more often i have hay and not hair.
DS has gone from washing daily to washing every other day and then back again... depending on his life and how long his hair is.
sounds like i was a lucky mom. DS always took a bath/shower without any issues as a kid. getting him to brush his teeth back then was another story all together!

Re: Shower debate
Unless your hair is really oily, it is better to wash it every other day. But you should shower or bathe daily.

My kids definitely don't bathe every day and they are 8 and 10. Until you hit puberty and/or start to have BO I don't really see why they should be bathing every day. Even for me, my skin gets so dry in the winter it can be unbearable. I am not sure why, if you aren't leaving the house and you don't smell you need to bathe every day as a 9 or 11 year old. I really think it also depends on how prone you are to oily skin/hair and body odor.

True. When DD had eczema we were told bathing daily was a no no. It's very drying to the skin if you have dry skin issues etc

My son goes into the shower everyday, whether he washes his @ss or hair is questionable.

Shower debate
My DS showers daily, but washes his hair infrequently. He hates water in his eyes so getting him to wash his hair has always been a struggle. He literally wear goggles in the shower/bath when we make him soap up his hair.

Good point! They do take long showers and sometimes when I yell... been in there long enough, time to get out. I hear... but I haven't soaped yet!
Ugh! I don't even want to know.

Re: Shower debate
Both DH and my DS (7) wash their hair every time in the shower.
ETA - This time of year DS showers every other day but in the warmer months, he sweats like a pig so he showers every day.

They wash their hair everytime they bathe. That is not necessarily every day. Meaning my kids. My DH washes his hair every day.

Re: Shower debate
DS showers daily but I have to remind him to wash his hair. He probably only does it a couple of times a week. But his hair is very thick and on the longer side so he probably finds it a hassle. I don't push it. I just smell him periodically lol.
