Shower Location Feedback Needed...

So I posted the other day that I am already starting to think about my shower date and location due to it falling on a very busy month (lots of first birthdays and other friends' showers...)

So I did a little searching and found a few places that could work for a shower of 90+ people. I have not personally been to any events at any of the places listed so if you have please provide honest feedback....Thanks!

-Peppercorn's in Hicksville
-George Washington Manor in Roslyn
-Milleridge Cottage in Jericho
-The Royalton: Roslyn Country Club
-Carlyle on the Green
-De Servesky Center on NYIT campus

Did you have it at the cottage or carriage house?

I got married at the cottage and it was great!!! But it is very big. I think the carriage house would be perfect for a shower!!!

I had over 90 people attend my bridal shower...110 were invited (and that was my mom and mother in law restricting their lists....I know it's totally insane but we have very large families). I think they would invite more people if there was enough space...Do you still think the cottage is too big if I had closer to 120 people? (I was to cringe even seeing that #...it's like a small wedding of all women! ahhh)

I've been to a wedding at Carlyle and had dinner and have been to a shower and dinner in the restaurant. The food was great for all the events/dinner. The restaurant had a ton of space.

I've been to a wedding the Millredge in. I think it was in the carriage house. It was a separate building with the glass bay windows and also was delicious!

Re: Shower Location Feedback Needed...

I too was married at the Milleridge Cottage and agree with Dana -- 90 is way too small for that space. (We had 110 at our wedding and barely made the 100 minimum and it was really very empty.)

I think the Carriage house would be amazing or another room at the Inn. The food there is FABULOUS. I *highly* recommend a buffet event there (if this is something you can afford). Seriously, it's been over a year since our wedding and everyone is still raving about the food.

ETA: the cottage fits up to 300 people and really is very empty at 100... even at 150 I think it would feel very empty. I'm happy to share some pics if you want to see. They set up the tables so they were in the middle of the floor and not in the wings at all and that helped, but it felt sparse nonetheless. If you could have it in the atrium room (that's the full glass room) it would be full and a lot better, but I don't have any idea if they do that.

Thank you for the info....The glass atrium room is the one that I would really want. It's so gorgeous and "garden-like". I'm going to call them this week to see what they can offer and how much they charge per head...I don't want anything to expensive but with so many people we're somewhat forced to use the larger venues which can be more pricey. Thanks again!

My other top choice is the De Serversky Mansion....So if anyone has feedback please jump in!

I love the atrium room. That's why I wanted to get married at the Milleridge Cottage. I wanted to be indoors (I hate mosquitoes) but wanted a ton of light. It was gorgeous and perfect.

I believe that we were there once when they had it set up for a baby shower and it looked great.

That's exactly the room I want to have it in...It's so gorgeous! Do you think that would be better for a party of 100+???

They don't usually separate the Atrium room from the other room in the Milleridge Cottage... so I'm not sure if you could just reserve that single room without paying the full cottage price. Definitely worth talking to them about.

For our wedding, we got married in that room, then they herded everyone into the lobby, then the re-opened the atrium for cocktail hour. The main room was where tables were for the reception itself and the atrium room was where the buffet was set up for during our reception. I loved how much time we got to spend in there! (We had a day-time wedding which was perfect for what I wanted.)

My wedding was at the Carlyle, so I guess I'm biased, but I would have another party there in a heartbeat. I know it was a wedding, but four years later people still rave about it to me.

ETA: I have never been to a party at the Milleridge, but I looked at the Cottage for a party (I also loved the atrium), but the pp is right, we would have had to take the whole cottage and guarantee 100 people.

I have not had an 'event' personally at peppercorns but the food is excellent and they are always booked for parties. We tried to have my rehearsal dinner and bridal shower there and they were booked both days.

-George Washington Manor in Roslyn - I just went to a baby shower there and it was wonderful! It was in that all white room in the back, the one with lots of windows. Food was great!

-Milleridge Cottage in Jericho - I've been to a few weddings there and I love that place! The food is always delish!

-Carlyle on the Green - I've had a few events at Carlyle on the green. I looooove it there! The food is AMAZING! Which room are you thinking of? The main ballroom seems too big.

Re: Shower Location Feedback Needed...

I got married at the Carlyle in 2004 and people still talk about it. Everything was top shelf and perfect and the price was great.

I have been to an event at the cottage at Milleridge and it too was very nice.

But that picture someone posted of the couple getting married at the Milleridge looks incredible.

You're giving me ideas. Thanks!

Thanks girls....I feel I have a lot of good choices and based on your feedback can't go wrong either way. Now I just have to find the time to get to see the places and get pricing for our guest list. If anyone else has feedback please feel free to offer it! TIA
