Sick infant
Please help - I am totally cluless, DS didn't get his first cold till he was over a year old.
DD is 9 months old and she is in a bad state... the nanny is home with her and said that her nose is running like crazy, she is crying and won't eat. She is also teething and the teeth are almost through so it could be a combo of teething and the cold. She is coughing a lot as well. The nanny hasn't taken her temp but says that feels a little warm. I am thinking possible ear infection?
I'll be calling the ped when they open but if I can't get an appointment right away what should I do for her?

Re: Sick infant
Keep her upright as much as possible. Use the "Little Noses" saline mist or spray (whatever you have). Keep wiping out those boogies. Only thing you can do for a cold. You can giveher baby Tylenol for the fever or the teething. That may help. Keep trying the milk or pedialyte if she won't take the milk.
I'm sure the Ped can fit her in soon.

steam, saline, suction, humidifier, tylenol and motrin for fever...
is she having trouble breathing? wheezing? take her in if you suspect ear infection or if she is wheezing. there is a nasty cold virus going around

Re: Sick infant
What everyone else said.
Also - I would make sure to run a humidifier in her room.

Re: Sick infant
Thanks everyone... no fever so far. She has a ped appointment at 12, it's not an ear infection!

Re: Sick infant
Sounds like it could be an ear infection. Do you have a humidifier? That is helping loey with his cough and nose. Also saline like pps mentioned. If u don't have the baby one u can use regular spray just hold it upside down and it will come out in drops

This is exactly what I was going to say, my DS (6.5 months) has a wicked cold right now w/a high fever and those things seemed to help him.
I hope your DD feels better soon!!
ETA: not sure if you have the nosefrida but we just got it and it is amazing, he can finally breathe!!

Re: Sick infant
DS is 10 months old and has a cold too. Besides what the other moms have suggested, I've also been using Vick Babyrub on his chest and feet.

yup.
Luke just had a week of non-stop suctioning and nebulizer treatments, but he had a cough that sounded like an old man's.
Hope she feels better soon.
