sick newborn??
DD has that cold that has been going around. DH and i have it too. Last night, i felt horrible. Poor DD was up almost every hour with the worst runny nose, i used the bulb syringe as much as i could to clear her nose out. DH ended up letting her sleep on his chest last night and she finally got some sleep. Today she is still sleeping and has been asleep since 9:30 this morning! That never happens.
Is there anything i can do to make her feel better? I know they don't make baby dayquil/nyquil but is there something i can give her to soothe her symptoms? I feel so bad she is sick....

Re: sick newborn??
Unfortunately, no. OTC meds are now not recommened until kids turn FIVE
Does she have a fever? If she does, then I'd give tylenol and give the ped a shout.
If not, then you can get baby vicks (some people swear by putting it on DC's feet) and take DC into a steamy bathroom. Oh and hte nasal aspirator thing too.
GOod luck, it sucks when they are sick

Re: sick newborn??
i used the humidifier, and steamed him alot when he had his winter colds.. i would basically sit him in the bouncy seat in the bathroom with the shower on extremely hot and let the steam help him....
they do sell a fan by either vicks or triametic that i found worked wonders as it let out the vapors kinda like vicks...
i did find he slept better in the bouncy seat then the crib because it was elavated.. but i ended up purchasing a crib wedge which helps alot
they actually say not to suck out their noses too much because the purpose of a runny nose to help with the infection.. imo i was sucking it out all day long...
