We have the bottom freezer too and we love it. Our fridge has soo much room on top.......great for big platters or anything big. We are big eaters so that helps too.......(LOL)
Ours also has a water/ice dispenser as well.
The side by sides to me.......are real narrow and wouldn't work for us but everyone is different.

We had a side by side in our co-op and we hated it! Nothing fit inside the freezer it was horrible. We ended up getting the freezer on top. Now in our house we have the freezer on the bottom and I love it. Both are good & roomy..but I would not go for the side by side.

For us we wanted and really loved the french door/freezer on the bottom frig. We love it. When we have company it works out great to have platters of food. It holds so much. And we don't mind the freezer on the bottom. For us it works.
Ditto - we had a side by side before this and I HATED it.

i had the freezer on top and fridge on bottom and LOVED it.....now i have the fridge on top and freezer on the bottom & HATE it!.....it is so annoying getting things in and out of the freezer drawer....i have to dig to the bottom, etc. if i have too much stuff the drawer doesn't shut & i have to move things around...i never had a problem before!....if it weren't brand new...i'd buy a new one!!!
another thought!
my MIL, had a side by side for years and hated it b/c of the lack of space....she now has a fridge like mine and loves it b/c it has more room......
i think it's a matter of opinion.....

I hate our side by side. You can't even fit a pizza box in the fridge! Maybe b/c ours is a smaller one, but I find it very inconvenient. If we could afford a new fridge I'd go with the one that has the freezer on the bottom for sure!

I really like the french doors with the freezer on the botton. The regular size fridge side by side is too small.

I was wondering the same thing. My friends have the frenchdoor w/bottom freezer and while from the outside the drawer looks huge, I always see them moving stuff around to get to anything. I do LOVE the larger fridge on top though.
