I probably dont have to tell you , but my ped doesnt think fevers in this age are an emergency until like 106° which I think is insane and I have told him my butt will be in the ER much sooner.
With a headache and sore throat I am glad he is goign to see the MD. When is the appt?
I have a little known secret to share. Schneider's childrens hospital has an urgi center that you can just walk in to that is open until 11 . If your MD cant see him today I would bring him there tonight. They are awesome. I have used them for Ryan and coworkers have also used them.

I was on the train & got a call from my mom. His fever was up to 104. I know it's normal to be that high but I'm never going to get used to hearing it. My dad gave him BABY ASPIRIN  to bring it down. (Children should not take aspirin for fevers associated with flu or chickenpox because it could result in Reye's syndrome)
Called the pediatrician. I'm staggering Motrin & Tylenol to get him (and me) through the night. It's down to 102.5
Quick strep test came back negative. The culture for strep should come in on Friday.
eta. Pauline - thanks for the info! I would much rather go to a children's hospital than my local one.

I explained the reason he gets a fever is that his body is battling & killing the germs. He was facinated. Maddie, of course, was not happy as there is no fighting in our house.
Even sick they make me laugh.
