Re: Silent Reflux
DS had it when he was little. He would scream when it was time to eat, always wanted to be held (we later realized it was because he was more upright when we held him), and he was arching he back out a lot when he ws crying. Never spit up though. Ped put him on Zantac twice a day and that worked for him thankfully. He was on it from 3 months till about 8 months or so.

Re: Silent Reflux
DS had silent reflux. It took us a few weeks to figure out wat was going on. He cried all the time, arched his back and didn't sleep unless held upright. He took Zantac and prescription formua initially until we finally had him treated by a ped. Chiropractor.
Has your LO been diagnosed?

DD is very hard to burp and she gets the hiccups (Dr said very common) a lot so the Dr. mentioned reflux. BC she doesn't spit up a lot the Dr. said silent reflux.
She has spit up clear and when I mentioned that she said it was excess salivia.
She does not scream during or after feedings, she doesn't arch her back (maybe pumps her legs) and she can sleep on her back (although she prefers an incline). So bc we are not experiencing the main symptoms, it makes me question the Dr.
She was immediate to say we can put her on this or this and I told her we will hold off and see what happens bc I doubt her opinion based on her symptoms. But, I know that it can cause damage if its not treated so I dont know what to do.

Re: Silent Reflux
My DD is being treated for silent reflux. She is on Axid. I keep second-guessing if that's what she really has. I called the doctor asking about it because DD started arching her back during bottles, never wanted to be put down during the day (but would sleep at night, albeit loudly), and just seemed so fussy. I also saw that she often seemed to be regurgitating something, as I would hear a noise, then see her mouth moving, then she would swallow again. She also often sound mucousy in her throat and nose, which the dr. said could be reflux. She rarely spits up, maybe once a day, and then very little. I really hate giving DD medication, but she did calm down after 5 days of it. Now, she has become fussier again during bottles (crying and spitting out bottle after an ounce or two, then wanting more), so I'm not sure what's really going on.
ETA: DD also has frequent hiccups and is difficult to burp. I find that Mylicon drops help with the burping though.

Re: Silent Reflux
DS twisted and turned..swallowed a lot..I actually heard the reflux coming up and down his throat..he screamed when laying down for more than 5 minutes..and would spit up clear....he would also cough and it sounded like he was gasping for air...very scary.
He went on zantac...was worse..cranky and gassy..then once on pepcid, it made a world of diff.
Good luck,.

Thanks, I feel the same way. Unsure if she really has it and hesitant to give her meds. I guess it can't hurt to try it out for a week since I hate seeing her uncomfortable and I understand that the dosage needs to be increased as they gain weight so maybe LO needs the dosage increased??

Re: Silent Reflux
My daughter was on Axid ( tried the other meds but didn't work), it made a big difference, that and eliminating milk /milk enzymes from my diet since I ebf, I also loved gripe water, seem to settle stomache and helped with hiccups. He had silent reflux but was miserable, I saw a big change once we got diet and meds right.
