Silly question: how did you know your DC didn't want to be swaddled anymore??

i was reading Porruss's post on swaddling and a lot of ladies said they knew their DC didn't want to be swaddled anymore. i am wondering about my DD- how could you tell? did your DC cry when swaddled? break free and seem happier? DD still seems to really need it and i am worried about stopping. hoping she will decide not to want it anymore!

My DD kept breaking free from it and she grew so long that it just wasnt comfy for her any longer.

2 nights ago (maybe 3 now) she just really resisted when I tried to swaddle her - arching her back and crying - - she never did this before. So I said OK, if that's the way you want it, we'll try it.

When DS would consistently break out of the swaddle, we knew he was done with it.

For us, it wasn't so much that they didn't want to be swaddled anymore as they didn't really need to be swaddled anymore. They were outgrowing the Miracle Blanket and we started testing them out at naptimes and it seemed they were ready to sleep without it.

Two weeks after we bought DD the miracle blanket she started kicking her feet out of the bottom so we just stopped using it

we swaddle ds and dd with an arm out. this way they can put their fingers in their mouths or play with their hair (self soothe), but still have some sense of security from the swaddle. they both seem to still like it. and they don't try to break out of it anymore. i think they were always trying to get a hand out before.

DS loved being swaddled for all of one week then he would cry and cry and struggle to get out of it on day 8.
