Silly vacation vent
I am the personal travel agent for my family. No one would go anywhere if I didn't plan it for them. I actually don't mind that role because I love planning trips! But I'm so annoyed right now.
My niece and her best friend are both turning 16 this summer. It has been in the works for her friend to take her to Florida with her family. But her friends family can not get their sh1t together! First they were flying, now they're driving.  Keep in mind, my poor niece gets car sick. All along they've been supposed to go in August, now the girl's dad is waiting for his bonus and might change the trip to June when the kids get out of school.
Here's the annoying part. My niece has decided she doesn't want a party but would love a trip too. Well I can't plan her bday trip until these people decide their dates! My sister is hoping to take them to Williamsburg, but she won't drive. So I need to book them flights, and make sure we have a timeshare available. I'm at a standstill here and it's driving me nuts! I just want to plan it so I know it's a sure thing. My sister is not one to do big things, so I want to make sure this trip happens. My niece really deserves it and I don't want her to get screwed out of a trip because her friends family is dragging their heals.

I totally understand your frustration. Why not plan the trip for July since it seems like the friend's trip will either be in June or August?

Her friend goes to a 4 week acting camp, so I can't plan until they choose their dates, which will then dictate which session of camp she does. I wish they would just make a decision already.

Is there a chance that if you plan you niece's trip that her friend will just then plan araound it? Is the same friend going with your niece on her BD trip? Can your niece speak to her friend and find out if they (the friend) can/will book their trip with your niece's trip in mind? (I know getting info like that from a teenager can be almost impossible, but just in case. . .)

Yes, it's her one best friend. They're taking my niece, and my niece wants to take her. I think they're in a more questionable money situation then my sister is, so we're trying to defer to them- especially since they "planned" their trip first. I think they're trying to figure out when will be the most economical time for them to go.
I'm going to speakto my niece today and see if she can get more of a concrete answer from them.
