granted they don't have the bowl/vase, but these CPs were a DIY by my friend for her own wedding ....

I would think that it was about $40. FWIW my cp's were all tall and had tons of roses, orchids and other flowers and were $175. She is being ripped off. Sorry.

Thank you all - I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being too objective...
Just to answer some questions:
- Just one color carnations (hot pink) - The florist supposedly used 182 carnations to create the lush-look - It's in a glass martini-type of bowl - it's 8" - and he wants to charge $200 - yes...$200 per piece...
My friend asked me to take a guess at how much they were running her....
My jaw dropped (b/c obviously I couldn't help it) - and I advised my friend "hey listen, you have to spend, by all means, but I will tell you right now, as a guest at your wedding...I wouldn't think you spent more than $45 on the CP."
Are they for real??? Carnations are always in stock at florists, so there is no premium to get them...that is first off. Second, they are low centerpieces that are not difficult to design in that formation. They probably just used a foam globe....
Lastly, my friend's centerpieces that had 2 dozen roses, calla lilies and orchids were not that much!!!!

Before I read your second post, I would have said less than $40! Carnations should not cost that much! Your friend is getting ripped off. She could have some amazing centerpieces for $200!

My CP's were less than 200 each and they were roses and wax flowers from Flower Michele. They were high centerpieces. I can't imagine paying more than $50 for a pile of carnations!!

$200 for that! What a rip-off. Not to be mean but it's not exactly my taste. I don't really care for them. I like a low centerpiece but I wouldn't want a solid red ball like that.

that is insane to charge for that c-pilece!
I love low c-p, but would not pay more than $65 each for them! and would want flowers more than carnations.

Is she already locked into that florist? She should definitely shop around. I guess 182 is a lot of carnations, but still--that's a lot for carnations.

To me it sounds like your friend is getting ripped off. $200 per piece for carnations is way to much. Tell her to fins another florist.

She is definitely getting ripped off!!!
If she needs a name a florist - my friend owns one - and she would not be charging anything like that. Let me know, I can give her a call and see how much she would charge

Flowers would almost cost less than the silver/chrome vase they are held in. I could probably do the whole thing for 30
