Sippy cup and temper tantrums
Ok, I'm just about to pull out my hair - Alex is on a sippy cup strike, and daycare is making me feel totally inadequate that I can't transition her to it. She simply will not take it... she has in the past, but now she simply won't. I've tried every sippy cup out there... and now, when I present it to her, she has a full blown temper tantrum and throws it across the room.
So, BTDT moms - PLEASE advice needed on transitioning my little fiery spirit, AND, how shall I best handle these temper tantrums??????

Re: Sippy cup and temper tantrums
I was all scared t go to the Doc for Bella's 12 month appointment because she was being violent with the sippy cup rejection. He told me not to even worry until AFTER 15 months!
And I have noticed that in the last two weeks, she takes the sippy cup much better...AND is completely competent to drink and use it...
However, I will wait another couple of months until I go hardline and switch out one bottle during the day each week until she is completely done... She still likes her bottles.
And FYI, in my daycare...ALL of the kids in her class are within a month of each other and I believe almost all of them are still on the bottle.

Re: Sippy cup and temper tantrums
Did you ped. say she had to come off the bottle? If not I would tell daycare to stuff it and give her a bottle (sorry if that's not very helpful).

Re: Sippy cup and temper tantrums
I tried so many cups with Nate - Gerber, Advent, Nuby, etc... He hated all of them. He likes to drink out of a straw so I got the insulated cups from Munchkin. Since I got it we were able to phase out the bottle in a week. He has one at ILs and daycare.
If she drinks out of a straw it might be worth it to geve them a shot.
Although not in the pic, we have the ones with handles.

Re: Sippy cup and temper tantrums
Ahhh trust me ladies, I would ignore daycare in a heartbeat, but we just had our one year appt. and the doc suggested we start trying... I have even tried the straws... she HAS used them so I know she CAN but it's a matter of preference I suppose!

Re: Sippy cup and temper tantrums
Is it the kind of temper tantrums where she arches her back and flings her head back or the one where she bangs her head on the floor? Yes, we started those about a month ago.
As for sippy cups he will only drink water from it, when he is not flinging it across the room. When it is time for milk he will "head bang" and "arch" until I give him his bottle.
Oh well .......before you know it we will have to teach them to drink from a regular cup.
I am not stressing the situation I really don't see the big deal. Look at those Poland Spring sports bottles...they look like bottles to me!
Good Luck with the temper tantrums!
