Sippy cup vs. bottle
Do you think the sippy is really that much different than the bottle? I've had Marron off the bottle for about 2 months now, but she still calls the sippy her baba, and DH also calls it her bottle. I know it doesn't really matter what it is called, but since they still have to turn it upside down and suck to get the milk out, how different is it really? I can see the ones with the straw being much different, but the run of the mill, no-spill sippy...???

I don't think so, but Ryan apparently does bc he uses it as a teething ring and doesn't drink out of it yet. He's 11 montsh.

Re: Sippy cup vs. bottle
Both DC went from a bottle to straw cups. We skipped right over the sippy cups. DS didn't like them at all, and this time around, with DD, we didn't even bother. DD figured out the straw by herself. She kept swiping her brother's straw cups, and starting drinking out of them....

we went right to the straw cup too - sippy is too much like a bottle IMO

Re: Sippy cup vs. bottle
I know that was my argument to the ped when she learned my dd still was drinking out of a bottle at bedtime. I asked her what is really different. She said that once they get used to the sippy they can get the milk out sooooo much faster, so it's less time in their mouth (which means less tooth decay and less chance of it affecting their teeth position). I didn't believe her at first b/c my DD still took forever with the sippy, but now she can down an 8 oz sippy in like 1 minute if she wants to!
I did get the ped to agree though that the thing they really worry about is the baby going to sleep with the bottle- once I told her we brush her teeth after getting the bottle at night, she didn't worry so much.
