I do it because I feel like shes "lonely" back there if I am not right there with her. I may be "uptight" about it but I just feel bad shes back there all alone. When she is front facing and can see more, I will feel more comfortable sitting in the front again.
I respect what everyone does though. I just found it offensive that my friend called me "crazy." I would never consider anyone crazy for having different ideas about what to do with their children.

When mine is in the backseat solo, forget about it, yelling and screaming the whole time. At first we just thought he hated his carseat(I would always sit up front with DH) but as long as he has company back there, its a peaceful ride.

I sat in the back after leaving the hospital. And I think it ended there. If they were having a fit whoever is in the passenger seat would try to calm them down. But, as I figured I would be travelling w. them by myself so they were going to be used to being alone.

DH always does, but that is because I think he just wants to spend time with her. When I drive her alone, I watch her in the mirror and is fine. I don't know when he'll stop, probably once she starts throwing things at him 
although we may discuss this tonight - we hadn't thought about it.

Never even thought about sitting in the back. I think that's a little too "helicopter" for me.
Those that hop in the back to breastfeed...how do you manage to do that? Do you take the baby out of the carseat while the car is moving or do you just stop somewhere?

same here. I don't think you are "crazy" for doing it. I would have done it longer if I could. I give her a toy to keep her company!!
eta: I don't have a mirror either. THe policeman took it out when I had the seat inspected. He said it was a hazard. I hate that I can't see her, but she's usually fine!

When did you stop sitting in the backseat with your child when you werent driving?
Usually my dh is driving when we go somewhere and I sit in the back with my dd. I think I will do this until she is one and the chair gets turned around. My friend said I was crazy and to just sit up front with my dh again. I just feel like if she needs me, I will be right there. Anyone else?
i did it until she was in the regular carseat.. she is 1 now and went in it about a mth ago..and I was made fun of too, I felt more comfortable

I only did it until I was sure that she was not being choked by the carseat belt. So, a couple of trips. Now it is only if I need to feed her or something.
